WASHINGTON, DC: The White House press secretary position, which was briefly filled by Katie Zacharia after Karoline Leavitt left in August, has been offered to an interesting celebrity.

The press secretary position ignited controversy after Zacharia was fired within a week of being appointed, as her first press conference from behind the White House podium drew scrutiny.

Trump offers White House press secretary job to Dana White

President Donald Trump on Saturday, November 7, offered the vacant position to the president and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said that the offer was made to “a violent Fighter and Warrior” and added that he had requested White bring his “assistants” with him and named several UFC fighters.

“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump wrote.

Then, Trump listed the fighters.

“I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris,” he added.

“We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!” he continued.

Trump’s relationship with UFC president Dana White goes back years, and they have been allies for a long time.

Dana White shares 'next chapter' post after Trump's offer

It is not clear whether White has accepted Trump’s offer. Shortly after Trump made the announcement, White shared an image of himself at the White House press briefing room podium to his Instagram story with the caption, “On to the next chapter.”

In another post, he shared a screenshot of the president’s statement.

The White House has been searching for a permanent press secretary after the departure of Karoline Leavitt earlier this year. Trump briefly tapped political commentator Katie Zacharia for the job, but she was dismissed as well.

Zacharia’s firing came after reports emerged that she had marketed herself as an attorney without passing the bar exam.

White would be an unconventional choice for Trump, though many in the president’s orbit did not come from political backgrounds before being nominated.

The offer is the latest change to Trump’s inner circle after the Republicans' midterm losses. It came a day after he named Stephen Miller to replace Susie Wiles as chief of staff.
