LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In an interview on Monday, June 10, Senator Cory Booker told host Stephen Colbert of 'Late Show' that he did not trust conservative judges, particularly those nominated by former President Donald Trump, to protect American rights.

The New Jersey Democrat told Colbert, "I don't trust [Trump-appointed] judges to secure our rights," when they were discussing what Congress could do to prevent conservative judges from having an impact on matters like gun rights and abortion rights.

"Congress must act," he said, per Fox News. "I have been shaken by seeing things happen in our federal judiciary that I never imagined possible."

Sen Cory Booker claims judges made decisions on issues like IVF against US citizens' interests

Booker is in favor of a bill introduced by Sen Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill, that would protect IVF through federal legislation. Republicans have already obstructed the bill, arguing that it is too broad and does not permit certain regulations.

Sen Cory Booker alleges Donald Trump filled court with right-winged judges during his tenure

During the late-night media appearance, Booker added, that Trump filled the courts "with extreme right-wing" judges during his term.

Former President Donald Trump listens as his attorney Todd Blanche speaks during a press conference at 40 Wall Street after a pre-trial hearing on March 25, 2024 in New York City. Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. "The majority of Americans believe in Roe v. Wade, but that was stripped away from us by the courts," the senator said, then pointing to gun control efforts. "The majority of Americans believe that we should have common sense, universal background checks, but that's been blocked again and again by a Republican Congress."

"It is an extreme nature of the people he is putting on the court to take precedence, to take patterns, practices and upturn them," Booker continued.

He claimed that he and other Democratic members of Congress have taken action to "protect same-sex marriage" and in vitro fertilization against rulings made by conservative judges.

Internet slams Sen Cory Booker for not trusting conservative judges

The senator faced heat from netizens for showing a lack of faith in conservative judges, especially the ones who were appointed by Trump. One X user tweeted, "Booker wants judges that sympathize with black violent criminals."

Another wrote, "That’s okay! I don’t trust Liberal judges either. Hopefully, they won’t forget their job according to the rules of the Constitution! I certainly don’t trust the NY Liberal judge , he’s corrupted! Many lawyers who sat in the courtroom agreed! It was a corrupt and bias trial!"

"AND, EXACTLY WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT BOOKER TO SAY ABOUT TRUMP APPOINTED JUDGES? BECAUSE DEMS KNOW THEIR ALL GOING TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR THEIR CRIMES," penned another user. "They should all be very afraid ! Judgement day is coming," one user warned. "Sen Booker also doesn't protect our rights," commented one user.
