WASHINGTON, DC: Justice Samuel Alito was recorded talking about the ideological battle between the left and the right.

He discussed the difficulty of living "peacefully" with ideological opponents given the "fundamental" differences that "can’t be compromised."

Alito supported the view expressed by his conversational partner, who characterized the struggle to "restore godliness to our nation" as essential.

He offered a blunt assessment of how America’s polarization will ultimately be resolved: "One side or the other is going to win."

Alito's comments were recorded by Lauren Windsor, documentary filmmaker at the Supreme Court Historical Society’s annual dinner on June 3.

She asked questions of justice as though she were a religious conservative.

Windsor, according to Rolling Stone, approached Alito at the event and reminded him that they spoke at the same function the year before.

That was when she asked him a question about political polarization. In this interview, she told him her views on the matter had changed.

"I don’t know that we can negotiate with the left in the way that needs to happen for the polarization to end," Windsor said. "I think that it’s a matter of, like, winning."

"I think you’re probably right," Alito replied to her. "On one side or the other — one side or the other is going to win. I don’t know."

Justice Alito continued saying, "I mean, there can be a way of working — a way of living together peacefully, but it’s difficult, you know, because there are differences on fundamental things that really can’t be compromised."

"They really can’t be compromised. So it’s not like you are going to split the difference," Judge Alito said further.

"People in this country who believe in God have got to keep fighting for that — to return our country to a place of godliness," Windsor said.

"I agree with you. I agree with you," replied Alito.

Internet dismisses Samuel Alito as Justice, labels him 'MAGA operative'

Internet reactions mostly weighed on the judge's qualification in pressing over former POTUS Donald Trump's election interference-related cases.

"Judges should be held accountable for being impartial and neutral, and should not be influenced by partisan bias or other factors," wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

"The Supreme Court has become an embarrassment!" another added about Alito's recent controversies about flags. "Sam Alito is not a Justice- he's a MAGA operative," wrote one more.

"Political bias is not allowed; if Alito and others cannot set aside their bias, they are not qualified to be SCOTUS."

"Justice Samuel Alito is an insurrectionist," wrote one more. However, some were critical saying Alito didn't say anything damaging in the recordings which Windsor also shared on X.

"Alito doesn’t say anything per se 'damning' in this clip but what is damning about it as a whole is his willingness to engage is a purely partisan political discussion," wrote one.

"Justices would normally politely decline to offer their opinions in this manner, and should," the user added.
