CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: The Democratic National Convention (DNC) has begun in Chicago amid heavy police deployment.

Many are left amused to witness such a heavy security force by the party, which advocated for police defunding a few months back.

UAW leader Shawn Fain, Hillary Clinton, Andy Beshear of Kentucky, and First Lady Jill Biden are expected to speak on the first day of the DNC.

Democratic National Convention begins in Chicago amid war-like security

Thousands of protesters were seen around the venue, with many expecting a possible breakdown with security personnel.

A video on social media also showed riot police patrolling around the Chicago venue, as elites are set to participate in the four-day event, beginning Monday evening, August 19.

The layers of fencing have been done around the venue, “This is the first security fence where the protesters got to,” an Al Jazeera reporter shared, “They breached a couple of areas. You’ll see a guy on top of the fence there.”

The Republicans had their party convention last month, from July 15 to 18. They chose another Midwestern city Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for their event.

Netizens troll Democrats amid heavy security ahead of Chicago DNC

Social media users poked fun at the Democratic Party for employing war-like security at the Democratic National Convention. Many questioned how the party, that advocated for defunding police, went ahead of the line and got riot police at their event.

One person commented on X, "Cast your eyes on the full dysfunction and violence of the Democrat Party this week. Suddenly Democrats are NOT defunding police … they are paying them overtime when their elite butts need protection!!"

"This is a hell of a concept to understand, isn't it?" another shared.

A user trolled Democrats, "Seems the Police that Harris Wanted to Defund come in handy when you need them."

One felt, "If it was Trump supporters they wouldn't have any security and the feds implanted I'm the crowd would instigate them to crash the event."

Another wrote amid protesters at the DNC, "If these democrats hate these other democrats this much, they’re going to love the GOP."

"Why would they want to defend those whom want them defunded?" asked someone else.

A person poked fun at Democrats, "I Don’t remember this happening during the RNC?? Hmmmmm maybe because we believe in law and order."
