WASHINGTON, DC: The Biden administration would not comment on whether it intends to get in touch with the family of Rachel Morin, a mother of five from Maryland who was allegedly killed and raped by an illegal immigrant last year.

Rachel's mother, Patty Morin, has not yet received a call from a Biden administration representative, according to Randolph Rice, the Morin family's attorney, who spoke with Fox News' Laura Ingraham on Wednesday, June 19.

What did Department of Homeland Security say?

In a statement, a DHS spokesperson said, "The Department cannot publicly comment on an ongoing criminal investigation. That said, anyone who commits a horrific and senseless crime, like the one this individual is accused of, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law. Our hearts go out to Rachel Morin’s family."

The White House offered condolences to Rachel Morin's family

In a statement released this week, the White House expressed its sympathies to the Morin family, but when the outlet pressed for details, it refused to say what measures would be taken to secure the border.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Rachel Morin," a White House spokesperson told Fox News on Tuesday. "We cannot comment on active law enforcement cases. But fundamentally, we believe that people should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law if they are found to be guilty."

Donald Trump reached out to Patty Morin

Rice told Fox News that Patty Morin was contacted by former President Donald Trump on Thursday morning and that they spoke for twenty minutes about her daughter Rachel.

Patty Morin said in a press release offered by her attorney that she was "deeply touched by President Trump's kindness and concern."

"He was genuine and truly wanted to know how our family was coping," she added. "He asked about Rachel and showed honest compassion for her untimely death. His words brought comfort to me during this very difficult time."

Rachel Morin was reported missing by her boyfriend

After going for a run on the pedestrian Ma & Pa Trail in Bel Air, a peaceful and generally safe town about 28 miles northeast of Baltimore, on August 5, 2023, Rachel, 37, was reported missing in August by her boyfriend, who claimed she never came back.

Her body was found on a trail the following day.

When was Rachel Morin's murder suspect arrested?

The illegal immigrant and primary suspect Victor Martinez Hernandez was detained on June 14 following a protracted 10-month investigation into Morin's death. He was charged with rape and first-degree murder.

Hernandez, who has allegedly been in the country since February 2023, was detained in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while "casually sitting" in a bar. As per police, he entered the country barely one month after he was suspected of killing a young woman in El Salvador.

Authorities in Los Angeles have linked his DNA to a home invasion that occurred in March and resulted in the assault of a mother and her nine-year-old daughter.

Harford County Sheriff broke silence after Victor Hernandez's arrest

"We all suspected that Rachel was not his first victim," Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler said during the arrest announcement last weekend.

"It is my understanding that this suspect, this monster, fled to the United States illegally after committing the brutal murder of a young woman in El Salvador a month earlier in January of 2023," he added.

Hernandez was expected to be extradited to Maryland on Thursday to face charges. He was scheduled to leave Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday morning and arrive at Martin State Airport between 12.30 and 1 pm, the Harford County Police Department confirmed.

The 23-year-old will be taken to the Harford County Detention Center, police said, following his arrival in Maryland.

Netizens call out Biden administration for not reaching out to Rachel Morin's family

Internet users criticized the current US government for showing a lack of sympathy towards the Morin family.

One X (formerly Twitter) user penned, "[Of] course they won't. There are so many heinous crimes done by illegal aliens they can't keep track of them."

"Most useless administration in Americas history. We must vote all the democrats out," another echoed.

"Biden doesn’t contact anyone unless he is pressured," one user opined.

"Democrats HATE America," said one. "I don’t understand how a guy new to the States travels like he does. Something is a miss there," another chimed in.
