Rachel Morin: Family of Maryland mom-of-five seeks public aid to nab killer in emotional video appeal
BEL AIR, MARYLAND: The family of Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother-of-five tragically slain last August, has released a heartfelt video pleading for public assistance in finding her killer.
Amid growing concerns that the suspect may have fled across the southern border, Rachel's mother Patty delivered an emotional appeal in the video ad, emphasizing the devastating impact of Rachel's loss on their family.
"Rachel Morin was my daughter. She was a mother to five children. She's a sister," Patty mourned. "Somebody just grabbed her and killed her. If he's willing to kill a perfect stranger he's willing to kill anybody."
What happened to Rachel Morin?
Rachel, 37, went missing while jogging on the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air, Maryland, with her battered body later discovered in a nearby tunnel. The search for her killer has intensified in recent months, with authorities releasing a finalized sketch of the suspect and conducting extensive investigative efforts spanning multiple states.
Attorney Randolph Rice, speaking on behalf of Morin's family, urged anyone with information about the suspect to come forward, emphasizing the importance of bringing closure to the grieving family.
The commercial featuring the family's plea is set to air in Maryland, Los Angeles, and towns along the southern border, reflecting concerns that the suspect may have ties to these areas.
"Remember Rachel, remember the area she was in…if anyone remembers anything moving forward…those small details can be the details that break the case open," Capt Andy Lane said.
Rachel Morin murder suspect's DNA linked to another assault of young girl
The sketch was released almost a year after the dissemination of home surveillance footage capturing the suspect leaving a residence in Los Angeles following a break-in and assault on a young girl. Maryland authorities confirmed that DNA collected from the location where Rachel's body was discovered matched evidence from the aforementioned assault and home invasion.
Descriptions provided in flyers circulated by the HCSO portray the suspect as a Hispanic man with a "muscular build" and "dark hair," with indications of potential "ties to the Los Angeles area and may have been involved in violent crimes in other states," reported Daily Mail.
Witnesses who discovered Rachel's remains described the scene as horrific, with indications of severe head trauma. The search for answers continues, with investigators processing new leads and reevaluating old ones in their relentless pursuit of justice.
The reward for information leading to the arrest of Rachel's killer has increased to $35,000. As the investigation progresses, the family remains hopeful that the perpetrator will be brought to justice and urges anyone with information to come forward and assist in achieving closure for Rachel's loved ones.
