WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's campaign released a new ad, suggesting former President Donald Trump would be "king" if he returns to office, in light of the Supreme Court's recent ruling on presidential immunity.

The 30-second advertisement, released on Wednesday, July 3, before the Independence Day weekend, implied the 45th president would enjoy absolute power if he were to win the November election, as per the New York Post.

"Nearly 250 years ago, America was founded in defiance of a king, under the belief that no one was above the law, not even the President, until now," said the narrator, in the ad.

The narrator then argued that the 6-3 ruling would let Trump "ignore the law," even though Chief Justice John Roberts noted that a president "is not above the law" and that all his acts are not official.

The campaign ad also criticized the Supreme Court's immunity decision, which came out in favor of the MAGA spearhead, who contended that his actions as president during the final days of his term should be protected from prosecution.

"The same Trump Supreme Court that overturned Roe v Wade ruled that the President can ignore the law, even to commit a crime — because Donald Trump asked them to," claimed the ad, adding, "He's already led an insurrection and threatened to be a dictator on Day One. Donald Trump can never hold this office again."

The ad is scheduled to air in key battleground states, focusing on younger voters.

The Supreme Court, in its July 1 ruling, noted that a president could not enjoy immunity over unofficial acts and left the decision on what should be deemed "official acts" to lower courts.

However, the crucial ruling that granted a partial victory for Trump did not weigh on its impact on the criminal cases against the former president regarding his alleged attempts to reverse the 2020 election results.

In his statement, Biden-Harris 2024 Communications Director Michael Tyler called out the top court, arguing it gave the presumptive GOP nominee "carte blanche to do basically anything he wants if he ever walks back into the Oval Office."

"Everything he's pledged so far on the campaign trail – 'termination' of the Constitution, imprisoning his political opponents, and yes, ruling as a dictator if he gets the chance – are up for grabs because of this decision. It's that real," added Tyler.

All three liberal justices disagreed with the ruling, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor, in her dissent, wrote that it would turn the president into a "king above the law."

Internet blasts Democrats as Biden campaign releases ad implying Donald Trump could govern as 'king' owing to immunity ruling

Netizens called out the Democrats over the new ad released by Biden's campaign in the wake of SCOTUS granting Trump partial immunity.

One wrote, "Dems, prolific and compulsive projectionists," and another said, "Really pathetic that this is all they have to run on due their own bad policies."

A person remarked, "More over the top gaslighting from the worst administration in history!!" "Fear mongering is truly their only hope now. So get ready for large doses of it," read one more response.

Someone else offered, "And Trump should be responding with 30 second ads consisting only of debate footage. He should have a voice-over saying that Biden no longer has the mental capacity to be king."

"Their own logic suggests that Biden is king and Trump is a former king somehow. There's no logic with Dem leadership and somehow it works on wide swaths of people," chimed in another person.

"You all lie so much that all but the blind are beginning to see through you," fumed an individual.

Another person added, "These people are incapable of telling the true. It’s one lie after another!"
