PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA: A first-degree murder charge has been filed against a Florida man after cops found his injured wife and his battered mother at her home, Law&Crime reports. 28-year-old Devin Hansen's wife Yasmin Grijalva was rushed to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Hansen followed the ambulance carrying his injured wife in his Cadillac, attempting to catch up with the emergency vehicle but ended up crashing his car. Hansen is also facing charges of domestic battery, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and obstructing justice, as detailed in a charging report from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Devin Hansen fatally shoots wife Yasmin Grijalva
Cops responded to calls at 29th Avenue North after Hansen shot his wife Yasmin on April 17. During the investigation, cops discovered that Grijalva was present at the home with Hansen when a "verbal argument" broke out.
The home belonged to Hansen’s parents, but he still lived there at the time of the murder. Hansen and Grijalva were at the house when his mother told him to go away. Hansen entered a room from which he drew a pistol, then went back into the bedroom where Grijalva was. Hansen forced his way into the room, knocked his mother Karen to the floor, and pushed Grijalva against the dresser.
Devin then held the gun to Grijalva's head, threatening to kill her. He fired multiple shots into the wall behind him before fatally shooting his wife.
Devin Hansen struck his mother multiple times in the head
After fatally shooting his wife, Devin Hansen assaulted his own mother, Karen Hansen after she tried to stop the altercation between Hansen and Grijalva.
Hansen struck Karen multiple times in the head with a blunt object. As Grijalva was being transported to the hospital in an ambulance, Hansen allegedly chased the ambulance in his black Cadillac. After a brief pursuit by police who were already in the vicinity, Hansen managed to evade arrest momentarily.
However, Hansen crashed into rocks after which he was arrested. He remains in custody with a bond set at $25,000, as indicated by court records.
