WASHINGTON, DC: It looks like the Democratic National Committee's latest attempt at satire has majorly backfired.

In an eyebrow-raising stunt at the GOP's front door, the DNC parked a custom-wrapped taco truck outside the Republican National Committee headquarters in DC.

Democrats deploy taco truck to taunt Donald Trump over tariff indecision

But this wasn’t just any food truck. The mobile eatery came wrapped in photos of President Donald Trump and was serving free tacos as part of a policy-themed jab at Trump’s tariff strategy. "TACO" is supposed to be short for "Trump Always Chickens Out".

That acronym was coined by Wall Street analysts to mock Trump’s flip-flops on steep reciprocal tariffs.

“Trump always chickens out. We’re just bringing the tacos to match,” DNC Chair Ken Martin told Fox News.

Conservatives troll DNC's latest stunt

While the DNC thought they were being clever, conservatives were quick to call the stunt half-baked. Many on social media called the taco truck another miss in a long line of Democratic messaging fails.

Vice President JD Vance posted on X, “We have the lamest opposition in American history.”

Washington Free Beacon’s Chuck Ross offered, “The party that brought you the hugely successful ‘Dark Brandon’ and ‘Republicans are Weird’ campaigns are now going all in on ‘TACO,’” he posted on X.

Journalist Nick Sortor wrote, "LMFAO! The Democrats’ attempt to mock Trump outside the Republican HQ with a taco truck was such a FAILURE that the taco truck man packed up and left early These people are BEYOND pathetic."

Western Regional and National Hispanic press secretary Christian Martinez chimed in, “Democrats are doing what they do best: cheap gimmicks, free handouts, and I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck us with the bill.”

It turns out the DNC might’ve fumbled the execution, too.

NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella pointed out that the taco truck wasn’t even parked in front of the right building. “Looks like the Democrats took a break from fighting amongst themselves to stage a pathetic stunt,” he told Fox News. “The most embarrassing part? They couldn’t even get the location right. You can’t fix stupid.”

RNC communications director Zach Parkinson laughed. “LMFAO. A taco truck? Are they going to be giving out free vasectomies again, too? These people are morons. No wonder Democrats’ approval rating is at a historic low,” he told the outlet.

DNC fires back

But the DNC wasn’t about to let it slide. Deputy communications director Abhi Rahman took aim directly at JD Vance.

“We understand that JD Vance, the cringiest VP in American history who cannot order a donut like a normal human being, prefers to take food away from people, including 40 million Americans whose SNAP benefits were just scrapped in the GOP budget,” Rahman clapped back.

It's worth noting that this isn’t the first time Democrats have tried to tie food to politics. Earlier this week, Rep Eric Swalwell’s taco-munching TikTok mocking Trump's tariff strategy was brutally roasted online, with conservatives labeling it “cringeworthy.”

Behind the free lunch was supposed to be a deeper strategy—or at least that’s what the DNC insists. According to officials, the taco truck was meant to be more than just a photo op or stunt. It was specifically designed to call out what Trump's tariffs, which they view as one of his biggest policy vulnerabilities.

Speaking to Fox News, DNC officials framed Trump’s trade approach as “playing games with working families’ livelihoods."

It looks like the Dems were hungry for an opportunity to capitalize, especially with tariffs back in the headlines after Trump’s April announcements. They are currently being challenged in court.
