NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sen Joni Ernst of Iowa called out President Joe Biden on Tuesday, May 7 for the delay by his  administration to act upon the rise of antisemitism in college campuses across the United States

According to The Hill, multiple federal agencies will be involved in the efforts to tackle the hateful narrative across the United States, which surged after Israel's assault on Gaza following the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023.

The Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights is set to issue new guidance to every school district and college in the country. It would provide examples of antisemitic discrimination and other forms of hate that could prompt investigations for violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The State Department’s special envoy to combat antisemitism will also coordinate with tech firms to come up with better solutions to dealing with anti-semitic content.

Sen Joni Ernst's statement

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ernst shared the report by The Hill, writing, "It shouldn’t have taken violent 'protests' to force this president to take action and protect Jewish students. I’ve been calling on @DeptofEd to use their full authority under Title VI for months. There is still more to do to end antisemitism for good."

President Biden did speak out against the agitated protests on university campuses last week, saying, "There should be no place on any campus, no place in America for antisemitism or threats of violence against Jewish students. There is no place for hate speech or violence of any kind, whether it’s antisemitism, Islamophobia, or discrimination against Arab Americans or Palestinian Americans. It is simply wrong.”

He argued that demonstrations would have to be peaceful and refrain from boiling down to chaos.
