Dolly Parton inherits late husband Carl Dean’s full estate, court documents reveal

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Country legend Dolly Parton is honoring her late husband Carl Dean’s final wishes after the release of his will, which reveals he left his entire fortune to her.
Court documents obtained by Us Weekly and made public this week show Dean, who passed away in March 2025 at age 82, signed his will in 2013, leaving all his assets to his wife of nearly six decades. The move underscores the enduring devotion between the famously private couple, married for 58 years.

Carl Dean leaves Dolly Parton full control of his estate
The will states Dean’s estate includes personal property and items tied to Parton’s legendary music career—from stage costumes and photographs to cars and memorabilia accumulated over their life together.
Dean also noted there may be a handwritten note specifying how certain personal items should be distributed. If that note isn’t found, Parton will ensure those items reach their intended recipients.
Parton has requested to be appointed executor of Dean’s estate, a role allowing her to manage his affairs and make decisions on his behalf.

Love story that lasted nearly six decades
Parton and Dean’s romance remains one of country music’s most enduring love stories. The couple eloped in 1966 in a small, private ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia, at a time when Parton’s rising career made headlines.

Despite his deep love for his wife, Dean famously shunned the spotlight, preferring a quiet life away from fame. Parton often joked that he had only seen her perform live once early in her career but remained her "biggest fan" behind the scenes.
To mark their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016, the couple renewed their vows in a private ceremony, which Parton described as "beautiful and meaningful".

Dolly Parton addresses fans amid health rumors
Following Dean’s passing, Parton, 79, addressed concerns about her health in a video message to fans, thanking them for their love and support during this emotional period.
“I’m doing just fine,” she reassured her followers, adding that her focus has been on family, faith, and cherishing memories of her late husband.
