KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: In the Kansas City Chiefs parade mass shooting, the authorities have nabbed two suspects, as per prosecutors.

Both Dominic Miller and Lyndell Mays have been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon, informed Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Kansas prosecutor on what triggered mass shooting

In the shooting, a paradegoer, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, was fatally shot by a bullet from Miller's gun, and as per reports, 22 people were injured last week.

During the press conference, Baker said, “It appears Mays was in a verbal argument at the parade with someone he had no prior history with.”

"That argument very quickly escalated to Mays pulling out his handgun, and almost immediately, others pulled their firearms including Miller,” he added.

The prosecutor further shared, “Both men are in the hospital for injuries sustained in the shooting. Both are being held on a $1 million bond."

"We seek to hold every shooter accountable for their actions," Baker said on Tuesday, February 20, referring to the arrest of two juveniles last week on gun-related charges and resisting arrest, reports ABC News.

"The effort and dedicated hours spent to expeditiously investigate this senseless act of violence is extremely commendable," Lopez-Galvan's relatives said in a statement.

"It is reassuring for our family and the entire community to know that this joint team effort has resulted in the identification of the suspects involved," the statement was read during the press conference.

Meanwhile, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly also tweeted, “I'm directing flags to be flown at half-staff this Saturday to honor Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother, radio DJ, & Kansan who lost her life last week at the Chiefs Super Bowl rally. I'm grieving for her family and all the victims and their loved ones.”

Earlier, Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling took up the responsibility to support the young survivors, offering compassion and material assistance as they recover, as per the New York Post.

In a post on X, Valdes-Scantling, known as "MVS," put out a call to help him connect with the victims, who range from 5 to 16 years old.

"First off I want to make sure they’re doing ok," he wrote. "But would love to help them out any way I can and get them some stuff from the team to help with the recovery."
