Don Jr reportedly eyeing presidential run amid questions whether Trump sees him as 'competition'
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., may be considering a future White House bid as insiders claim even his recent wedding may be part of that larger picture.
According to sources who spoke to Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, Don Jr. reportedly sees his marriage to socialite Bettina Anderson as more than a personal milestone.
Is Don Jr playing the long game?
Trump Jr., 48, and Anderson, 39, tied the knot on May 21, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida, before traveling to the Bahamas for an intimate wedding ceremony on Saturday, May 23.
Behind the scenes, insiders claim the marriage was also viewed through a political lens. “Don Jr. thinks being married makes him look more presidential,” one insider revealed to Naughty But Nice. “He understands the Republican base. This wasn’t just personal — politically, he sees it as an asset.”
The idea, according to reports, is that projecting a more traditional and stable public image could strengthen his appeal with Republican voters if he eventually enters the national stage.
The wedding came after Trump Jr. and Anderson got engaged in December, following roughly a year together. Plans reportedly shifted over time. Early discussions about a White House wedding were ultimately scaled back in favor of the smaller Bahamas celebration, with reports pointing to tensions surrounding the war in Iran as part of that decision.
Even so, the celebrations may not be over. Reports say a larger gathering with extended family and friends is still expected later this year.
Anderson, a philanthropist and model, has become an increasingly familiar face around Trump family circles in Palm Beach and Mar-a-Lago over the past year. Earlier this year, she celebrated her bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago alongside several members of the Trump family before the wedding festivities began.
Trump Jr. was previously married to Vanessa Trump from 2005 to 2018. They share five children, namely Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe. Anderson has not previously been married and does not have children.
Wedding absence sparks bigger conversation
President Trump’s absence from the Bahamas ceremony quickly became a talking point. According to insiders, it raised questions about how supportive he would actually be if his son ever launched a presidential campaign.
Trump reportedly did not attend because of responsibilities in Washington. Still, reports say the couple hopes to eventually celebrate at the White House with both the President and First Lady Melania Trump in attendance.
That explanation hasn’t stopped speculation.
Another source claimed that “people inside the family are asking the same question,” adding, “If Trump couldn’t show up for one of the biggest days of his son’s life, how enthusiastic would he really be about backing a presidential campaign?"
According to insiders who spoke to Shuter, the race to define the movement’s future may already be underway. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are reportedly beginning to gather support behind the scenes for possible 2028 presidential runs.
But sources say Don Jr. has no intention of fading into the background.
“Nobody is waiting their turn anymore,” a Republican insider explained. “Vance has the ideological MAGA base, Rubio has establishment donors, and Don Jr. has the Trump name. It’s becoming a real fight.”
Another source said that Trump Jr. is “moving like someone who fully expects to run one day,” but added that “the only question is whether his father ultimately sees him as an heir — or competition.”
