NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former CNN anchor Don Lemon criticized members of Donald Trump’s inner circle on Tuesday, October 28, during his morning program, accusing them of staying silent about what he described as the president’s “obvious” decline in cognitive abilities.

Lemon suggested that those closest to Trump are aware of the issue but are “too scared to say it out loud.” His remarks came during a discussion about the state of the nation and Trump’s mental fitness following the former president’s recent Montreal Cognitive Assessment at Walter Reed.

While Trump boasted that he had “aced” the “very difficult” test for dementia, Lemon mocked his pride in a test that includes simple tasks such as identifying animals and recalling a list of five words, the now-famous sequence: “person, woman, man, camera, TV.”

Don Lemon says Trump’s behavior shows signs of cognitive decline

Don Lemon made his point by stating, “You ever look at someone and see that they ain’t all there, right?” He continued, “They ain’t all there anymore. But everybody around them is too scared to say it out loud. That’s where we are with Donald Trump.” Lemon added, “The man has lost it.”

As evidence of what he described as Trump’s decline, Lemon cited the president’s recent visit to Japan, where Trump reportedly told military staff how much he dislikes “good-looking people” and made false claims about the properties of water.

Lemon also noted that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi had to escort the president through a room, comparing the situation to “a family barbecue where an uncle who gets a little too lit must be escorted out of the way of harm.”

Don Lemon accuses Trump’s inner circle of using him while hiding the truth

Don Lemon concluded that Donald Trump’s inner circle is not acting out of loyalty but rather using him by refusing to reveal the truth. “Everybody around Trump knows what’s happening,” he stated.

Lemon added, “They see the rambling. They see the confusion. They see the blank looks. He’s not who he was.”

The reporter accused the Republican Party of “holding his hand through it” and “pretending that he’s sharp, pretending that he’s fit,” claiming, “the truth scares them. So they’d rather lie to the country than admit that it’s over.”

Lemon described their actions not as loyalty, but as “using somebody.”

White House defends Trump’s health after Don Lemon’s criticism

In addition to questions about cognitive testing and recent public missteps, Donald Trump’s health has also drawn scrutiny due to visible signs of physical decline, including a bruised hand, swollen ankles, and a drooping face. His repeated visits to Walter Reed Medical Center have only fueled further speculation about the transparency of his medical reports.

When contacted by The Daily Beast for comment, White House press spokesperson Davis Ingle defended the president’s condition. “President Trump is the healthiest and most energetic president of all time, as evidenced by his physicals that show perfect results and the historic achievements he is delivering for the American people,” Ingle said.

He added, “Don Lemon is a low ratings loser that no one takes seriously, an individual who knowingly covered up the mental decline of Joe Biden.”
