Donald Trump asked Michael Cohen to delay Stormy Daniels' hush money until 2016 election, say prosecutors
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Donald Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche grilled Michael Cohen, and tried to discredit the prosecution’s key witness.
Prosecutors have also alleged that Donald Trump directed his former attorney to delay making payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels for as long as possible.
They have reasoned that the former president believed if they can delay paying until after the 2016 election, they may never have to make the payment at all.
Prosecutors' claim over payment made to Stormy Daniels
According to prosecutors, Donald Trump directed Cohen to pay Stormy Daniels $130,000, which was made to her attorney via a shell company to keep her silent over their alleged affair.
As per prosecutors, Daniels reached out to AMI with her story, and then it was bought by Cohen under the direction of Donald Trump.
However, Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels and denied making any payments, per CNN.
The ex-president is facing charges for being involved in an "illegal conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 election, and an unlawful plan to suppress negative information."
Prosecutors also claim that Trump allegedly made the transaction, and covered it up as a legal payment and falsified business records on multiple occasions for his benefit.
Lawyer Bob Costello slammed Michael Cohen by calling his testimony 'revenge tour'
MEAWW reported earlier on lawyer Bob Costello launching a scathing counterattack against Michael Cohen, labeling Cohen's recent testimony as a "revenge tour" riddled with falsehoods and personal vendettas.
Costello's rebuttal comes in the wake of Cohen's accusations of attempting to establish a "back channel" to former president Donald Trump, which Cohen characterized as "shifty" during his trial on Tuesday, May 14, in New York.
"I read Michael Cohen’s testimony from yesterday’s trial in New York on the way down on the train, and virtually every statement he made about me is another lie," Costello stated emphatically before the House committee on the "weaponization" of government.
