Donald Trump's resilient response to rally shooting

During his final rally before the Republican National Convention, Trump was discussing border crossing numbers when the incident occurred, as per Fox News.

"And then the worst president in the history of our country took over. And look what happened to our country. Probably 20 million people (came in illegally). And, you know, that's a little bit old, that chart... that chart's a couple of months old. And if you want to really see something that sad, take a look at what happened over..." he was saying when the first shot rang out just after 6:10 pm, according to AP News.

Trump raised his hand to his right ear and crouched down as more shots were fired. Secret Service agents quickly surrounded him and had him transferred to a waiting SUV within two minutes.

With his right ear and cheek streaming with blood, Trump was heard saying, "Let me get my shoes, let me get my shoes,” before getting on his feet and pumping his fist in the air, marking a picturesque moment.

Republicans promoting the fist bump image after the attack

GOP members swiftly shared an image of a bloodied Donald Trump fist-bumping on stage across social media, heightening political tension at a crucial moment, reported Politico.

Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) uploaded a video clip of the moment over X (formerly Twitter), writing, "Someone just tried to ASSASSINATE President Trump. The Democrats and the media are to blame for every drop of blood spilled today. For years and years, they’ve demonized him and his supporters. Today, someone finally tried to take out the leader of our America First and the greatest President of all time. Watch the video, President Trump said “FIGHT,” SO WE WILL!!" [sic]

Her fellow Congressman from the state, Rich McCormick (R-Ga) posted, "Thank God that President Trump is safe. I have no doubt that this cowardly attempt to assassinate our nominee will further galvanize the American people in support of Donald J Trump. We will stay focused on the race ahead and emerge victorious."

"America is praying for President Trump," expressed Rep Matt Gaetz (R-Fla). "We will overcome and DEFEAT EVIL! NEVER SURRENDER!”

Trump's shortlisted vice presidential candidate Sen Marco Rubio (R-Fla) chimed in as well, posting, "God protected President Trump,” along with the photograph.

Donald Trump Jr tweeted in support of his father as well, stating, "He'll never stop fighting to Save America.”

“I have been under fire many times,” shared former Trump aide Retd Lt Gen Keith Kellogg. “It reveals your real character — when the President stood up with blood streaming and fist pumped and said ‘fight,’ it revealed his.”
