WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump bemoaned the increasing acceptance of transgender Americans during his speech on Friday, August 30, at Moms for Liberty's annual conference, the national nonprofit organization, that has led the campaign to remove references to LGBTQ identity and systemic racism from K–12 classrooms.

Trump claimed that access to gender-affirming healthcare should be limited and that transgender women shouldn't be permitted to participate in women's sports.

The Republican frontrunner also took aim at those who have criticized him for allegedly utilizing Arlington National Cemetery as a backdrop for a campaign photo.

Donald Trump slams Kamala Harris and Joe Biden for polluting the country

Donald Trump attacked President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, bemoaned illegal immigration, reminisced about his parent's marriage, his journey to becoming the reality television star of 'The Apprentice', and discussed the debate that ultimately ended Biden's reelection campaign, but he mostly stuck to his favorite subjects during an hour-long "fireside chat" in Washington.

“Our country is being poisoned. And your schools and your children are suffering greatly because they’re going into the classrooms and taking disease, and they don’t even speak English,” Trump said of immigrants crossing the border illegally, per The Hill. “It’s crazy.”

Trump also echoed conservative annoyance that surfaced in public hearings during the Covid-19 outbreak when he claimed that school boards had turned into "like dictatorships" that are inimical to parents' wishes.

“I’m for parental rights all the way. I don’t even understand the concept of not being,” Trump said.

Donald Trump didn't address US Army’s allegation

This week, while visiting the graves of servicemen slain in a terrorist attack during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, Donald Trump chose not to respond to the US Army's complaint that an officer at Arlington National Cemetery was "abruptly pushed aside" in an altercation with Trump advisors. However, he claimed that after getting to know the family, they requested to have a picture taken with him.

Images from the cemetery visit showed Trump standing close to the families of Staff Sgt Darin Taylor Hoover and Sgt Nicole Gee, stroking their heads and giving them the thumbs up. “These people are devastated,” Trump said Friday. “These people can never ever be the same. And it was all because of Biden.”

Donald Trump shares some of his favorite stories

As he does at his iconic rallies, Donald Trump entered a Washington hotel ballroom and stood, soaking in the acclaim for the whole rendition of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA," which was followed by cries of "Trump, Trump, Trump."

He was seated on stage with Tiffany Justice, the co-founder of Moms for Liberty, and he told some of his favorite stories that are staples at his rallies, switching topics in a way that his fans have come to expect.

The previous president tried to bolster a sizable portion of his base's enthusiasm and support. More than 130,000 people are members of Moms for Liberty, most of whom are conservatives who share his views that parents should have more influence over public education and that programs supporting racial justice and accommodations for transgender students have no place in schools.

Donald Trump runs the risk of alienating some moderate voters

However, there's also a chance that Donald Trump will annoy some centrist voters, as a lot of them believe that Moms for Liberty's activism is too radical to be supported by a presidential nominee.

A year ago, many saw Moms for Liberty as a potentially crucial conservative political force that may help the Republican ticket. Following the group's establishment in 2021, parents' protests against mandated mask wear for students and remote learning amid the Covid-19 epidemic drove a sharp increase in membership.

But over the past few months, a slew of humiliating incidents and lackluster results in municipal elections have raised doubts about Moms for Liberty's impact.

Additionally, the group has expressed support for Project 2025, a comprehensive and contentious blueprint for the upcoming conservative administration that Trump has made numerous attempts to disassociate himself from.

Internet praises Donald Trump for calling out transgenders

Netizens, much to the surprise, heaped praise on the former US President for calling out the LGBTQ community during his speech at Moms for Liberty's annual conference.

One X user tweeted, "I'm no trump fan, but glad one candidate is speaking out against the transgender movement."

Another added, "Can we all agree that contact sports should be segregated by sex rather than some made up concept of gender so nobody gets killed? Is there any bit of sanity left?"

"Nobody cares what a transgender person does or doesn’t do, it’s very simple keep the kids away from drag queens wearing thongs, keep biological males out of woman’s sports and don’t chop off children’s healthy body parts, seems simple enough to me," remarked one.

"Transgender… mental illness," echoed someone else.
