WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump has been leading Republicans to pin the global stock market crash on Vice President Kamala Harris, as per The Hill.

The July job reports which were released last week were weaker than expected. According to the US Labor Department, only 114,000 workers were added to the economy in July while the unemployment rate stood at 4.3%, the highest since October 2021.

This stoked fears of recession, which resulted in US stocks taking a plunge on Monday, August 5. Global markets, especially in Asia and Europe, declined as well.

While there has been no indication that Harris' replacing Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket for the 2024 election was in any way tied to the stocks going down, the Republicans went ahead with the line of attack as it tied her with the incumbent administration's policies.

Donald Trump calls Kamala Harris a 'radical left lunatic' as he blames her for the global stock market crash

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, the GOP nominee wrote on Monday, "Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe. Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole. Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!"

He later uploaded a video that showed a compilation of the stock market crashing with Harris praising "Bidenomics." The post was simply captioned, "KAMALA KRASH."

Trump's take was soon echoed by the Republican National Committee and its rapid response team shared a press blast describing the crash as a "harbinger of what to expect in a Kamala presidency."

The National Republican Congressional Committee further promoted the narrative, sharing a compilation video of the crash with the caption, "First, the Harris-Biden admin & House Democrats made life unaffordable. Now, the economy is headed for a recession. #KamalaCrash."

Ammar Moussa, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, hit back at Trump's attack, stating, "What middle-class families need is steady economic stewardship, not chaotic ranting lies."

He added, "Donald Trump had the worst jobs record of any modern president, and oversaw some of the worst days in the stock market in history while spending his presidency lining the pockets of his wealthy friends who shipped American jobs overseas."

"Economic experts agree: His plans would raise costs on working families by $2,500 a year and 'supercharge' inflation," asserted Moussa.

Internet divided as Donald Trump pins the market crash on Kamala Harris

Netizens were at odds while reacting to Donald Trump's comments on the stock dip.

A Facebook user wrote, "He’s been right all along," while one said, "Next he'll blame the bad weather on Kamala Harris!"

"Calls it like he sees it!" stated a person and someone else added, "He would crash the economy personally if it meant that he wins the election."

"Why weren’t you blaming Biden when the stock market was at an all time high last week?" asked an individual.

One more declared, "He is 100% CORRECT," with another person writing, "Anyone that doesn't see the problem would have to be blind. Trump 2024!!"
