WASHINGTON, DC: This Easter weekend, President Donald Trump participated in an extravagant White House Easter Egg Roll and spent much of his time at his golf club alongside Elon Musk.

What followed was an online firestorm questioning his work ethic, OK Magazine reported.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Easter meetup goes viral

In a now-viral video that has set social media ablaze, Donald Trump was seen greeting guests at his golf club in Virginia, flanked by none other than Tesla and X CEO, Elon Musk.

Displaying pure showmanship, the president announced over loud applause, “Do you all know who this is? The world’s richest man!”

The clip sparked quick reactions.

A political group called Republicans Against Trump used the opportunity to take a swing at the 78-year-old’s work ethic.

“Donald Trump spent Easter weekend at his golf club in Virginia with Elon Musk. So far, he has spent more than 25 percent of his presidency golfing, according to the Trump Golf Tracker,” they posted, labeling him “the laziest president in history".

Of course, MAGA supporters were quick to defend their leader. One broke down the math to challenge the “lazy” narrative.

“There are 5 work days and 2 weekend days. Weekends are 28.57 percent of the days. Golfing only takes about 4 hours and so he spends 8 hours on the golf course per week. That’s 4.76 percent of the week. That’s not being lazy. That’s called taking a break, getting some exercise, and recharging the batteries.”

Donald Trump mocked for hitting the golf course on Easter weekend

As photos and clips of Donald Trump surfaced online, critics didn’t hold back, mocking his choice to play golf alongide Elon Musk on Easter weekend.

One user shared, "Imagine spending 25% of your time doing something and still being awful at it."

Another wrote, "The US and the world would greatly benefit if he would spend 100% of his time golfing."

"So happy my tax dollars are going to pay for golf trip after golf trip after golf trip," said a user sarcastically.

Another remarked, "If you want to destroy the country then you don't need to do much work. Trump can go and play golf with a clear conscience."

But the golf course wasn’t the only place Trump made headlines.

Amazon, Meta, and YouTube replace traditional sponsors amid egg shortage

Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were back at the White House by April 21, Monday, to host the annual Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn, with more controversy in tow.

This year’s egg roll leaned heavily into corporate sponsorship.

Instead of being backed by the American Egg Board as in previous years, the 2025 event was led by Amazon, with support from YouTube and Meta.

This pivot sparked pushback for multiple reasons.

Nearly 30,000 eggs were used, despite high nationwide prices and a continuing avian flu outbreak that has caused widespread egg shortage.

Corporate sponsors reportedly paid upwards of $200,000 for perks that included a 30'x30' branded activation space, VIP brunch with Melania, and a White House tour or meet-and-greet.

A nine-page pamphlet from the event company Harbinger broke down tiered sponsorship packages, including $125,000 and $75,000 options, for brands looking to cash in on media and PR exposure through the traditionally family-friendly event.
