LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN: GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump was caught in an awkward moment during a joint Town Hall in La Crosse as he avoided a hug from Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday, August 29.

It was Trump's first visit to Wisconsin since the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, which ended three days before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, according to CBS News.

Trump told the crowd, "I figured I was going to come here, and we’re going to make a speech. I have a speech all set for you. I was ready. And they said, 'Sir, you’re doing a town hall.' I said, 'Ohhhh, nobody told me that.' I said, 'Who’s doing this?' They said, 'Tulsi.' I said, 'Well, that’s at least good news.' She’s been, I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time, I have to tell ya. So, I didn’t even know."

After his speech, Tulsi Gabbard was seen trying to give a hug to Trump but he casually ignored her while she walked to wave towards the audience from the stage as Trump waved his hands.

Trump also announced his plan to make in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment free for women if he becomes the next president. His proposal comes amid criticism from Democrats regarding his role in appointing three Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v Wade.

Trump said during a recent event in Michigan, "I'm announcing today in a major statement that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for — or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for — all costs associated with IVF treatment. Because we want more babies, to put it nicely."

Trump initially favored IVF in February after the Alabama state Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos can be considered children under state law and briefly paused treatment which sparked a national backlash.
