Donald Trump claims 'bad guy' Joe Biden destroyed America, asks people not to feel bad for president
WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump expressed that people should not feel sympathy for President Joe Biden as he faces backlash from his disastrous debate performance on June 27.
Speaking on Fox News' 'Brian Kilmeade Show', Trump said, “You know, somebody told me, ‘I feel sorry for him because at that debate, he was so pathetic.’ They said, ‘I feel sorry for him.’ I said, ‘Don’t feel sorry for him'."
Donald Trump's criticism of Joe Biden
On the show, Trump criticized Joe Biden as he said, "He’s a bad guy. He’s [an] absolutely bad guy and he’s destroyed this country."
"He’s absolutely destroyed this country.’ So I said, ‘Don’t feel badly for him,’” he added.
Trump's remarks come amid concerns among Democrats and people over Biden's age and mental fitness following the president's shaky debate performance as he appeared to stumble throughout the event in Atlanta.
Several Democrats raised questions about the president's capability to serve another four-year term and have called on him to leave the 2024 race.
However, the 81-year-old commander-in-chief has remained firm in his stance about his candidacy.
In a letter to congressional Democrats on July 8, Biden urged lawmakers to unite behind his candidacy.
“The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it’s time for it to end,” he wrote.
“Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us. It is time to come together," he continued.
Describing himself as the "best person" in the party to defeat Trump in the upcoming November election, Biden wrote, “I have heard the concerns that people have — their good faith fears and worries about what is at stake in this election. I am not blind to them."
“I can respond to all this by saying clearly and unequivocally: I wouldn’t be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024,” he added.
Donald Trump challenges Joe Biden to another debate and a golf match
At a rally on Tuesday, July 9, Trump challenged Biden to another presidential debate and also an 18-hole round of golf.
However, Biden campaign dismissed the challenge saying the president "doesn’t have time for Donald Trump’s weird antics.”
When Trump was asked whether his running mate pick would be impacted if Biden were replaced by another candidate, the former president said such a move would not influence his choice.
“No, I don’t care if it’s him or somebody else. It’s also policy. It’s more about policy than anything else. And these radical Democrats — they’re all radical, everyone that they’re talking about is a radical left lunatic,” said the 78-year-old politician.
“And whether it’s Biden or whether it’s somebody else, I think it’s the same. They want open borders, they want all the things we just discussed and much more,” Trump added.
