WILKES-BARRE, PENNSYLVANIA: Former president Donald Trump stated at a Keystone State campaign rally on Saturday, August 17, that there has “never been a more dangerous time since the Holocaust” for Jewish people in the United States.

The ex-POTUS also alleged that Vice President Kamala Harris did not select Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate because of his Jewish faith, according to the New York Post.

What did Donald Trump say about Josh Shapiro at his Pennsylvania campaign rally?

“They turned him down because he’s Jewish,” Donald Trump told his ardent followers at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

“They turned him down for other reasons, but the primary reason is because he’s Jewish,” Trump continued, adding that “any Jewish person that votes for [Harris] or a Democrat has to go out and have their head examined.”

“What’s happening with Israel and Jewish people, there has never been a more dangerous time since the Holocaust if you happen to be Jewish in America,” the 78-year-old MAGA strongman remarked.

Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro refuted allegations that his Jewish faith led to him being overlooked, sharing that Vice President Harris' decision to choose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz told him that “antisemitism had no impact” on the party’s running mate decision.

Antisemitic hate crimes have surged nationwide following Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7 last year, leading to the deaths of around 1,200 Israelis and a prolonged conflict in the Gaza Strip, now in its 10th month.

New York City has experienced a troubling increase in antisemitic incidents, with the NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force investigating 30 anti-Jewish offenses in July alone, while there were 45 incidents of crimes targeting Jewish people in June.

As of August 4, 229 anti-Semitic hate crimes have been reported to the NYPD so far this year. This marks a sharp increase compared to the 126 incidents reported by the same time last year.

The war in Gaza has triggered widespread protests nationwide, particularly on many college campuses last spring, resulting in hundreds of arrests.

In New York City, there have been frequent anti-Israel protests in Manhattan, often causing disruptions in the city's main transit hubs.

Michelle Ahdoot, Director of Communications for End Jew Hatred, recently stated that “the single most significant hatred we see in New York City since Oct 7th is overwhelmingly Jew-hatred."

“On an almost daily basis, we see groups of radical Hamas supporters — some even waving the Hamas flag — marching in city streets calling for the genocide of Jews. We do not feel safe,” she claimed.

Another said, "Anyone who votes for Donald Trump he needs to go and have his head examined That’s for sure!"

One X user argued, "Kamala’s husband is Jewish."

Finally, this user tweeted, "#Trump another unhinged boorish bigoted rant. How can any moral sane person vote for him? It would be like roaches for Raid!!"
