WATERLOO, IOWA: Former President Donald Trump found himself in hot water after he warned of a "scary" stock market crash, claiming that the Biden inflation is “demolishing your savings”.

The 77-year-old front-runner for the GOP nomination was addressing a crowd of supporters at a rally in Waterloo, Iowa, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, when he explained how “Americans are struggling under the weight” of President Biden’s “betrayals and inflations.”

“Well, the stock market is making rich people richer and I mean it's crazy what's going on, rich people are getting rich, of course, I'm a politician now, so we just keep chugging it along right, but it's making,” he said.

However, the real estate mogul continued by warning that “you're going to have a crash, the likes of which you haven't seen because of what they're doing.”

“Biden’s inflation catastrophe is demolishing your savings and ravaging your dreams. His sky-high energy prices, the highest we’ve ever had are brutalizing your wallets,” he added.

Trump made a similar remark in 2020 when he warned voters during a presidential debate with now-President Joe Biden that the markets would “crash” if Biden won.

Donald Trump defends his anti-immigrant remarks

During his Iowa rally, Trump defended his comments about migrants crossing the southern border “poisoning the blood” of America.

He also pushed back on recent criticism that his rhetoric has echoed Adolf Hitler, telling a crowd in Iowa that he’s never read the dictator's autobiography 'Mein Kampf'.

“It’s crazy what’s going on. They’re ruining our country. And it’s true, they’re destroying the blood of our country. That’s what they’re doing. They’re destroying our country. They don’t like it when I said that,” Trump said.

“And I’ve never read ‘Mein Kampf.’ They said, ‘Oh Hitler said that.’ In a much different way,’” he added according to CNN.

President Joe Biden's reelection campaign called Trump "parroted Adolf Hitler" in response to remarks he made over the weekend at a rally in Durham, New Hampshire, concerning immigration "poisoning the blood of our country."

Trump's rally was held just hours after the Colorado Supreme Court knocked him from the state's 2024 ballot, ruling that he isn’t an eligible presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.”

Internet reacts to Donald Trump’s warning about stock market

Donald Trump’s remarks have garnered immense social media attention, with users slamming him for claiming that the stock market is “going to have a crash, the likes of which you haven't seen.”

“So he took credit for his highs but negates and fear mongers Biden’s wins. This tracks,” one user blasted. “Just pure fear-mongering ☝🏼,” the second user slammed.

“Maybe, but I doubt there’s a crash the likes of which he caused in 2020,” the third user stated, while the fourth user asked, “Tell us Donald what are they doing that will create your projected stock market crash?”

“At this point when he throws threats like this we have to consider the possibility that he might be working behind the scenes with some bad actors who will make this hypothetical scenario happen,” the fifth user fumed.

“Welcome to The Dead Zone. Pretty soon this dude is gonna be sounding just like Christopher Walken on speed! No punctuation anywhere in sight! WOW! MO’ COWbell!” another user mocked.
