WASHINGTON, DC: Barron Trump has already shown flashes of his father’s entrepreneurial instinct with the launch of his beverage venture. But if recent signs are any indication, the youngest son of President Donald Trump may soon prove he inherited more than just the family’s business empire.
The 79-year-old President recently sat down for an interview with 'Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson', where he blew trumpets of Barron’s popularity as he teased the idea of his son entering the political sphere.
Trump previously revealed that the 20-year-old NYU student is a “smart one” whom he trusts to advise him on politics.
He’s also been praised by his mother, First Lady Melania, for his campaign savvy in reaching young male voters to help his dad to victory over Kamala Harris in the election.
Trump teases son Barron might enter politics
During the interview, Trump spoke with Attkisson on a variety of topics, ranging from the Iran war to the midterm elections.
At one point during the conversation, she questioned the president about his youngest son’s growing interest in politics.
“Do you see your son Barron going into politics someday?” she asked, to which Trump replied, “Well, maybe.”
“He's certainly a popular guy, but we have a lot of members of my family who are very popular. You know, they have good kids. They're very good kids,” he continued.
The remarks appeared to contrast with Trump’s earlier comments suggesting that Barron’s future might be in technology instead of following in his footsteps in the politics and business fields.
With Trump’s latest comments, Barron increasingly appears poised to become part of the family’s expanding political legacy, reinforcing the dynastic undertones that have long surrounded the Trump name.
During Trump’s first term in office, his half-sister, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner, both held influential, unpaid senior adviser roles from offices inside the West Wing.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump continued to play key roles in the family’s political machinery, with Trump Jr. emerging as an especially visible campaign surrogate during the 2024 presidential race.
Barron Trump motivated to prove himself
As Barron moved into the new phase of his life with his 20th birthday, reports suggest he is increasingly driven to carve out his own identity amid the towering success of his father and older siblings.
"This is how to impress his family," the source told People. "He wants to make his own mark. He has always thought about business and truly is interested in it, like his father. A lot of this ambition has to do with his desire to look good to Donald, as well as to his mother. He is more gung-ho than most.”
The college student reportedly played a key role in inspiring the Trump family’s growing cryptocurrency empire, which has generated billions of dollars in recent years.
By September 2025, the publication estimated that Barron Trump alone was worth roughly $150 million, in addition to millions more tied up in unreleased crypto tokens that have yet to enter the market.
“He has been actively pursuing successful ventures for several years,” the insider noted. “Turning 20 is indeed a turning point for him as he gets older and wants to engage with projects that not only interest him, but will make him a lot of money."
