Internet extends support as Trump shares sweet moment with grandchildren following hush money verdict
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump dedicated some time to enjoying moments with his grandchildren at Trump Tower following his conviction in the hush money trial.
After a brief deliberation, the New York jury found the presumptive GOP nominee guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records on Thursday, May 30.
Donald Trump spends much-needed quality time with family amid legal woes
The morning after the jury delivered its verdict, former President Trump spent quality time with his grandchildren as seen in a video shared by daughter-in-law Lara Trump on Instagram.
He shared warm embraces with Carolina and Eric Jr at his midtown penthouse and the former even presented him with a beautiful drawing with hearts. Lara captioned the post, "This is why he does it," highlighting that the ex-POTUS is working hard for his fellow Americans.

Meanwhile, insiders noted that his allies weren't in a great mood. One stated, "It’s like a funeral at [Mar-a-Lago]. There was hope all day [Thursday] and then none!" as per the New York Post.
Another said, "Everyone but Ivanka has gathered around Trump at Trump Tower. Melania and Barron [were] smuggled in through the side entrance. People who saw Trump go into the elevator in the building said he’s 'finally looking older and tired.'"
A source disclosed that "everyone is upset" at the outcome of the case, adding, "Trump talked to both Melania and all his children, including Ivanka. [But] Trump says the real verdict will take place in November when the people vote."
Ivanka, breaking her silence hours after the verdict, posted a childhood picture of her and her father on her Instagram Story with the caption, "I love you dad."
Donald Trump's sentencing hearing looms ahead of presidential nomination
Trump is the first former US president to be found guilty of a crime. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 11, just one week before he is set to formally accept the Republican nomination.
"This is a verdict we were expecting, we’re going to appeal, and we’re going to win on appeal," Trump attorney Todd Blanche confirmed to NBC’s 'Today' show. The guilty verdict does not bar Trump from running for or holding office, and he is unlikely to be incarcerated since he is a first-time offender and the crime is non-violent.
"This was a disgrace," told Trump to reporters after the verdict was announced on Thursday. He added, "This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt as a rigged trial, a disgrace. They wouldn’t give us a venue change. We were at 5% or 6% [of the vote] in this district, in this area. This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people."
"I’m a very innocent man. And it’s OK, I’m fighting for our country, I’m fighting for our Constitution. Our whole country is being rigged right now. This was done by the Biden administration in order to vote to wound or hurt an opponent, a political opponent. And I think it’s just a disgrace. And we’ll keep fighting. We’ll fight ’til the end and we’ll win," stressed the former president.
