BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY: Former president Donald Trump made a jaw-dropping claim during his latest press conference in Bedminster, stating that "substantially more" than 100 percent of job creation had gone to migrants. This statement, that defies basic math, set the internet abuzz.

The bombshell statement came on Thursday afternoon, August 15, as Trump rambled on during the press event, eerily reminiscent of last week's speech at Mar-a-Lago, where he faced a barrage of fact-checks highlighting a mountain of falsehoods and exaggerations.

"Virtually 100% of the net job creation in the last year has gone to migrants," Trump declared. "You know that? Most of the job creation has gone to migrants. In fact, I’ve heard that substantially more than — uh, beyond, actually beyond the number of 100%, it’s a much higher number than that, but the government hasn’t caught up with that yet, but virtually right now as of the time they did this virtually 100% of the net job creation in the last year has gone to migrants.”

Not one to stop at a single bombshell, Donald Trump spiraled into a frantic rant, warning that Social Security would "blow up and fail" under a Kamala Harris presidency. He even proclaimed that the collapse would be unlike anything "you’ve ever seen before," a dramatic prediction quickly debunked by experts.

Beyond the inaccuracy of claiming that "virtually 100%" of jobs went to migrants, it is mathematically impossible for more than 100% of total jobs created to be allocated to any group of people. Job growth can exceed 100%—for instance, if the number of jobs doubles, that's a 200% increase—but the total number of new jobs is limited, and no group, whether migrants or Americans, can take more jobs than actually exist.

While Donald Trump's followers may have nodded along, other social media users mocked his claim that more than 100 percent job creation had gone to migrants.

"He’s literally reading a piece of paper written for him and somehow he still finds a way to say something totally crazy and stupid like this. Absolutely unreal how someone let this stat be put on a piece of paper," read a tweet.

"By next week , he will be claiming that 150% is actually 100% and all mathematicians went wrong," penned a user.
