BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY: Former president Donald Trump made a jaw-dropping claim during his latest press conference in Bedminster, stating that "substantially more" than 100 percent of job creation had gone to migrants. This statement, that defies basic math, set the internet abuzz.

The bombshell statement came on Thursday afternoon, August 15, as Trump rambled on during the press event, eerily reminiscent of last week's speech at Mar-a-Lago, where he faced a barrage of fact-checks highlighting a mountain of falsehoods and exaggerations.

Donald Trump targets Biden-Harris economic policies

This time around, Donald Trump attempted to discredit President Joe Biden's recent economic gains, singling out Democratic presidential frontrunner and Vice President Kamala Harris for good measure. What followed was a mathematical meltdown.

"Virtually 100% of the net job creation in the last year has gone to migrants," Trump declared. "You know that? Most of the job creation has gone to migrants. In fact, I’ve heard that substantially more than — uh, beyond, actually beyond the number of 100%, it’s a much higher number than that, but the government hasn’t caught up with that yet, but virtually right now as of the time they did this virtually 100% of the net job creation in the last year has gone to migrants.”

Donald Trump's Social Security rant

Not one to stop at a single bombshell, Donald Trump spiraled into a frantic rant, warning that Social Security would "blow up and fail" under a Kamala Harris presidency. He even proclaimed that the collapse would be unlike anything "you’ve ever seen before," a dramatic prediction quickly debunked by experts.

Beyond the inaccuracy of claiming that "virtually 100%" of jobs went to migrants, it is mathematically impossible for more than 100% of total jobs created to be allocated to any group of people. Job growth can exceed 100%—for instance, if the number of jobs doubles, that's a 200% increase—but the total number of new jobs is limited, and no group, whether migrants or Americans, can take more jobs than actually exist.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's bizarre claim

While Donald Trump's followers may have nodded along, other social media users mocked his claim that more than 100 percent job creation had gone to migrants.

"There are lies and there’s pure insanity. Lie: 100% of new jobs have gone to migrants. Pure insanity: The number is actually higher than 100%. Say what?" commented a user.

"Claiming that "over 100%" of job creation has gone to migrants is next-level ridiculous. Trump has shown he doesn't understand: -wind turbines -magnets -hurricanes -boats -batteries -energy storage -and now percentages," tweeted a user.

"Incase anyone is still wondering why he’s hiding his college transcript," said a third.

"Um. There is nothing higher than 100 percent," added another.

"He’s literally reading a piece of paper written for him and somehow he still finds a way to say something totally crazy and stupid like this. Absolutely unreal how someone let this stat be put on a piece of paper," read a tweet.

"By next week , he will be claiming that 150% is actually 100% and all mathematicians went wrong," penned a user.

"Without migrant help our produce cost would quadruple," added a user.

"My sources are saying it's infinity percent," chimed another.
