NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a heated moment outside a New York courthouse, former president Donald Trump stirred up controversy with bold claims about columnist E Jean Carroll and a photo involving the two.

The remarks came as Trump’s legal team attempted to overturn a $5 million verdict that found him liable for sexually abusing Carroll back in 1996.

What followed was a series of strange statements, including a suggestion that an infamous photo of him with Carroll could have been AI-generated, as reported by Irish Star.

Donald Trump claims E Jean Carroll's photo with him is AI-generated

Standing outside the courthouse, Donald Trump vehemently denied E Jean Carroll's accusations, launching into an unexpected rant about the allegations against him.

"She said I was making out with her and then I grabbed her in a certain part," Trump said. He then tried to discredit the practicality of the claim, adding, "Think of the impracticality of this. I’m famous in a plane, people are coming into the plane and I grab a woman – what are the chances of that happening?"

He didn’t stop there. The former president added an odd justification for why Carroll couldn’t have been a victim, saying, "Frankly, I know you're going to say it's a terrible thing to say but it couldn't have happened, it didn't happen because she would not have been the chosen one."

Trump’s bizarre phrasing and dismissive tone raised eyebrows, but it was his comments about a photo with Carroll that truly stood out.

The photo in question shows Trump and Carroll together, an image that has been repeatedly referenced in discussions surrounding the case.

Despite the visual evidence, Trump, who once confused Carroll with his ex-wife Marla Maples in the same photo, questioned its authenticity.

"I never met the woman, other than this picture, which could have been AI-generated, I don't know," he claimed.

Trump’s remarks outside the courthouse were just the latest in a long list of legal challenges he faces.

Aside from the case involving Carroll, Trump is dealing with multiple other criminal and civil cases, marking an unprecedented situation for a candidate of a major political party.

The verdict in Carroll’s case awarded her $5 million after the court found Trump liable for sexually abusing her in the 1990s.

Carroll’s allegations first became public in 2019 when she published them in her memoir. She has since become one of more than a dozen women to accuse Trump of sexual assault or harassment over the years.
