WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump held a closed-door meeting on Capitol Hill on Thursday, June 13, where he mentioned two red state Democrat senators, whom he is planning to throw off in 2024.

Naming Senators Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Jon Tester, D-Mont, the former leader said, as per Fox News, “They opposed everything I did while I was president, and now they are talking like Republicans.”

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. Jon Tester claims himself to be the right choice for Montana

However, Monica Robinson, a spokesperson for Tester, defended him by stating, "Jon Tester prioritizes Montana's interests. During President Trump's administration, over 20 bills authored by Tester were signed into law, benefiting veterans, addressing government waste, and supporting first responders."

Tester's Republican opponent, Tim Sheehy, previously accused him of switching allegiances.

He reportedly claimed, “This is what he does. Five years out of every six he's a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, firm progressive. Votes lockstep with [Senate Majority Leader Chuck] Schumer, Biden, and every other progressive in the country. And then, for his election year, he tries to shift back to the center and act like he's a moderate.”

Sherrod Brown mentions his loyalty to Ohio

Additionally, Brown's campaign issued a statement following Trump's remarks about him.

A spokesperson said, “Sherrod will work with anyone when it's right for Ohio and worked with President Trump to renegotiate NAFTA and pass legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs and make sure law enforcement officers have the resources they need to keep themselves safe and keep fentanyl out of Ohio communities.”

However, according to Reagan McCarthy, communications director for the Republican Party's Bernie Moreno, "Sherrod Brown tours Ohio claiming to be a moderate, yet he votes with Joe Biden 99% of the time and consistently betrays Ohio workers."

“We look forward to exposing his left-wing record and sending him packing in November,” McCarthy added.

Public opinions reflect diverse views on political strategies and elections

Meanwhile, people have also shared their thoughts as a reader below the Fox News article wrote, “Look at Tester's voting record in the Senate and you will find that he is extremely liberal. When he campaigns in Montana he tries to convince the voters that he is moderate. Hopefully, Montanans won't fall for his charades again this year.”

Another reader shared, “With a focused, sustained, and concerted effort, these two are easy targets to oust.”

One more commented, “Democrats always think they can fool everyone by shifting to more moderate positions as elections draw near, but they're only fooling Democrats again.”

A reader stated, “Americans have to vote out every Liberal from local, state and federal positions. They are a danger to democracy no matter where they are and we can not afford to allow them to remain.”

Another added, “Democrats are in the midst of the greatest attack on democracy in the history of the USA.  We need to elect GOP in both houses and the presidency and push for bringing ethics back to government and our justice system.”
