BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA: Donald Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, October 5, for the first time since the assassination attempt in July.

Addressing the crowd, the GOP nominee called on the attendees to honor Corey Comperatore, the firefighter who was shot and killed by the gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, through a "moment of silence," which was anything but silent.

Though the crowd remained noiseless, the surroundings were filled with the sound of gongs and loud opera music, according to The Mirror US.

"Tragically the shooter claimed the life of one of our fellow Americans, Corey Comperatore, unbelievable person, everybody tells me," said Donald Trump before the moment of silence, as per CBS News. He then walked over to the late supporter's firefighting jacket and helmet kept on stage and kissed it.

Trump timed his tribute to Corey to coincide with 6.11 pm ET, the exact moment shots were fired in Butler nearly three months ago.

Opera singer Christopher Macchio sang a rendition of 'Ave Maria,' as the crowd stood silent.

Corey lost his life to the assassin's bullet while trying to safeguard his family. Two other rallygoers, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, suffered serious injuries during the shooting.

Calling Corey an "incredible" former fire chief, Trump said, "He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect them from flying bullets. He went right over the top of them and was hit. What a fine man he was."

Before the rally, Trump was spotted embracing the firefighter's family.

The MAGA leader also mentioned his widow, Helen Comperatore, during the speech. He said, "To Helen and the entire family, I can only begin to imagine the depths of your grief. I know he’s looking down on us right now from heaven, smiling at his beloved wife."

Trump only sustained a minor injury to his ear before a Secret Service sniper took down the gunman.

His close associates, including his running mate JD Vance, his son Eric Trump, and his daughter-in-law Lara Trump, joined the rally, along with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Outrage over the use of gongs and opera music during 'moment of silence' for Corey Comperatore

Outraged netizens could not digest the loud opera music and gongs when Donald Trump paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, which was supposed to be a "moment of silence," leading to backlash online.

One wrote, "Playing music during a moment of silence? Weird," and another said, "What 'moment of silence'? He had some singing throughout the whole thing."

"All part of the show," remarked a person, while someone else asked, "Are you not understanding what a moment of silence is?"

An individual fumed, "??? A moment of silence isn't a moment of silence if they blare out music in that moment. It's a moment of #unsilence."

"Trump sure is a show man. That’s really the only thing he’s good at. Amazing how many people he’s able to trick with his Hollywood magic," declared another person.

One more stated, "I saw that! I also keep noticing that he never bows his head or closes his eyes during moments of silence. He didn’t at the 9/11 ceremony either. I don’t think he knows how to be respectful."
