WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump opened himself up to trolling on social media after he cast doubt on the result of the 2024 general election where he defeated Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during a recent interview on Fox News.

According to Mediaite, the incumbent became visibly irritable when network host Bret Baier informed him that his opponent had received "75 million votes in the country" and tried to dismiss the number as incorrect.

The interview was reportedly conducted ahead of Super Bowl LIX, with much of it airing on the channel's 'Special Report' segment on Monday, February 9.

Donald Trump's latest claim of election fraud

Since losing the Oval Office to Joe Biden in 2020, Donald Trump has spent the following years crying about election fraud without valid evidence. He repeated the claim during his interview with Baier, but not before he shared his doubt about the 2024 election which he decisively won.

The 78-year-old was triggered during the conversation when Baier brought up the figures from the last election, saying, "Sports has always been something that Americans rally around, come together they really do. You won the popular vote. You won all the swing states. But still, Kamala Harris got 75 million votes in the country."

The interviewer was trying to steer the conversation toward Trump possibly delivering a unifying statement for the country, but the POTUS was more interested in downplaying the support enjoyed by his political opponent.

"Well, if you believe the whole thing," Trump cut into Baier's statement. "The whole thing is ridiculous."

"Let’s just say that the election was as it was," Baier tried to get his point across, but was interrupted again as Trump stated, "Bret Excuse me! There are seven swing states. I won them all... By a lot... And I won the popular vote."

"But let me just get to the dismount here," pleaded a struggling Baier. "Have you thought about how to try to bring the country together, to reach out or to find common ground? Have you thought about that? Or how that might go?"

"I’d love to do it," replied Trump, before turning the conversation toward the difficulty faced by his first administration as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"And I can tell you, just prior to Covid coming and we were doing so well, the greatest we’ve ever done, there’s never been an economy like ours anywhere in the world. We were doing so well. We’re eating Chinese lunch. I charge, you know, I tariff China for $700 billion over a period of years. We were doing so well. And then we had the Covid."

Internet trolls Donald Trump for dismissing election figures

Netizens on the social media platform X reacting to Donald Trump's reaction to Kamala Harris' support among the electorate called him out for not being a fair sport. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Bro is the sorest loser but he's also the sorest winner too. What a baby," wrote a user.

"Trump may need to need to see a psychiatrist bad, idk if he even understands what the job is or if he just thinks 'I won that's it' lol," shared another.

"Why can’t he ever just answer a question. I know the reason here is that he has no plan or interest in uniting the country," jibed a third.

"He’s a terrible loser and an even worse winner," noted a fourth.

"He wins and he still thinks it was rigged? Come on," mocked a fifth.

"He's such a small insecure man. Even if he wins, he will always be miserable," chided a sixth.

"The sore winner syndrome," labeled yet another.
