Real reason why Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes both wore white to Super Bowl LIX

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Tayor Swift and Brittany Mahomes were both dressed in white as they cheered on their partners, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, February 9, reported the Daily Mail.

The Chiefs went up against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Caesars Superdome arena, looking to clinch a third consecutive Super Bowl title. However, their hopes were dashed as the Eagles defeated them 40-22.

The reason behind Swift and Mahomes' white outfits

Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes, known to be good friends, arrived at the stadium an hour ahead of the game, as per the publication. Swift, 35, was dressed in a white tee paired with an oversized white blazer and thigh-high white leather boots, while Mahomes sported a white corset top and matching jean jacket and pants.

Both of them flashed hints of red in their outfit. The 35-year-old pop star wore a ruby 'T' chain, and the 29-year-old sports team owner had the words 'Chiefs' emblazoned in red on the bottom leg of her pants.

However, they were predominantly decked out in neutral colors possibly because teams who have worn white jerseys during the Super Bowl have historically had a better shot at taking home the Lombardi Trophy, as per Sports Illustrated.

As a result, the Chiefs wore white on the field and Swift and Mahomes possibly joined in to show their support.

According to Essentially Sports, white also represents "underdog victories, comeback stories, and unshakeable composure under pressure." Unfortunately, luck struck out with the Chiefs, as they failed to win the game in the end.
