LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mary Trump, the estranged niece of former President Donald Trump, has voiced serious concerns about her uncle's latest venture into collectible merchandise: a limited-edition watch line.

In her recent blog post titled 'The Non-Fungible Grift,' Mary Trump, a well-known critic of the GOP presidential nominee, accused him of "grifting his followers" with this new product, following previous sales of collectible Bibles and sneakers.

Donald Trump unveils new watch collection amidst concerns over authenticity and delivery

According to Newsweek, on Thursday, Donald Trump announced the watch collection on Truth Social, stating that prices range from $499 to $100,000 depending on the style. He described the collection as "truly special" and suggested they would make excellent Christmas gifts, urging followers not to wait as they would "go fast."

In her critique, Mary Trump highlighted troubling aspects of the watches' website. First, she pointed out the disclaimer stating, "The images shown are for illustration purposes only and may not be an exact representation of the product." This raises questions about the authenticity of what customers can expect.

She also noted that the watches are currently available for pre-order, with shipping dates estimated for "October/November/December 2024." Mary Trump emphasized, "And, they repeat, they cannot guarantee when an order will arrive," underlining the uncertainty surrounding the product's availability.

Mary Trump highlights warranty limitations and investment concerns

A third concern she raised pertains to the warranty, which does not cover damage from "improper handling, lack of care, accidents, or normal wear and tear."

The warranty for the Trump Victory Tourbillon Collection Watch applies only to the "watch movement, hands, and dial," while the Trump "Fight Fight Fight" Collection Watch has a similar one-year warranty.

Mary’s fourth point addressed the website’s disclaimer that "Trump Watches are intended as collectible items for individual enjoyment only, not for investment purposes."

She noted, "From what I can gather from those who have reviewed the watches' specs, this suggests that the Tourbillon in particular isn't worth anywhere near what it's being sold for."

Her comments follow a critical assessment by menswear expert Derek Guy, who labeled the watches as a "crappy" product and a disingenuous "halo product" that derives its inflated value solely from Trump's name rather than quality.

Contrasting claims of quality spark controversy over Trump watches

While Donald Trump insists that the watches are of high quality, describing the Tourbillon model as "one of the best watches made," Mary Trump criticized his promotional video as "slimy."

In it, the former president boasts about the use of "almost 200 grams of gold and more than 100 real diamonds," stating, "That's a lot of diamonds. I love gold. I love diamonds. We all do."

Mary concluded her blog post with a stark observation, "There are much, much worse things about Donald Trump than his shameless hucksterism, but leveraging the presidency in this way is truly grotesque."

Having been an outspoken critic of her uncle for years, she published a tell-all book, 'Too Much and Never Enough', in 2020, where she asserted that he is "utterly incapable of leading this country" and that allowing him to do so is dangerous.

In response to her book, Trump dismissed it as "disgraceful" and remarked that she "was not exactly a family favorite," indicating a longstanding rift within the family.
