TOM GREEN COUNTY, TEXAS: Horrifying footages surfacing from Central Texas have revealed the widespread devastation left behind by recent catastrophic flash floods, which have claimed over a hundred lives and displaced many others.

The deadly flooding began early on the morning of the Fourth of July when the Guadalupe River burst its banks as a deadly storm dumped 12 inches of rain on the Texas Hill Country.

The dramatic footages also offered a look at the search and rescue teams’ heroic efforts to find those still unaccounted for amid the flash floods.

Texas family helps rescue woman clinging to tree after being swept 20 miles downriver

This video came after a 22-year-old Texas woman was rescued after the Guadalupe River floods swept her 20 miles over four hours before she eventually clung to a tree.

Devyn Smith’s cry for help was heard by the Jeter family, who quickly called emergency services, setting off a coordinated rescue effort. "She spotted me, and she started to scream for help and started yelling. At first, I couldn't… locate her," Patriach Carl Jeter told 'Fox & Friends Weekend'.

“I thought she was in the river itself going downstream, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ and then I finally was able to look across the river at the end of the tree and I spotted her, so I began to call out to her and tell her that I see her… ‘I got you. We're going to get you some help. It's going to be okay. Just hang on,’” he continued.

"There were multiple teams that showed up. There was a Swiftwater Rescue from Boerne, Texas, team that showed, and then there were some Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens that showed with boats as well. We were able to help launch those boats by hand into the water for them to get in and rescue her," said Jeter.

After the harrowing rescue, the Jeters welcomed the woman into their home. Carl recalled, "She was cut and bruised and banged up from the trek and cold."

The woman told the outlet that she was swept away by the wild water current while camping in Ingram, some 20 miles upriver, with five other family members, who were still missing.
