WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump is being majorly trolled for saying that one of his top priorities for his second term would be to maintain the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) location in Washington, DC, according to Fox News.

Notably, the FBI is likely to be split between Washington, DC, and a new location to be built in Greenbelt, Maryland, according to a proposal made by the federal government under President Joe Biden.

Trump states keeping FBI in DC will be major decision in his second term

Trump posted in Truth Social on Tuesday, May 7, "The new FBI building should be built in Washington, D.C., not Maryland, and be the centerpiece of my plan to totally renovate and rebuild our capital city into the most beautiful and safest anywhere in the world."

According to Trump, having the agency centralized in the nation's capital close to the Department of Justice's headquarters allows for more efficient communication between the two.

Furthermore, Trump said that the FBI's presence in Washington, DC, can reduce crime, which has increased dramatically in the city in recent years as a result of shoddy enforcement and inadequate police resources.

Trump said, "The FBI must be in walking distance of the DOJ building in that the DOJ and the FBI have to work closely together. A two minute walk to a meeting is far better than a traffic-laden two-hour drive to Greenbelt, Maryland. Likewise, having the FBI in D.C. is important for ending violent crime, which I will do, quickly!!!"

As he seeks a second term in office, Trump has often charged that the FBI and DOJ are secretly working against him. In an unprecedented Manhattan trial, the former president is accused of 34 felonies of manipulating New York business records.

In addition to denouncing the trial as a "scam" orchestrated by the Biden administration in advance of the 2024 election, the former president entered a not-guilty plea to all of the allegations in the case.

Internet takes jibes at Donald Trump for his statement on FBI

Several internet users slammed Donald Trump as he stated that one of his top priorities for his second term would be to maintain the FBI location in Washington, DC.

A person posted on X, "They can walk over and have lunch with the DOJ. Makes it easier to conspire against Americans", while another added, "Like the big beautiful wall that he never built at the border?"

A user also wrote, "Isn't that special, rebuilding the capital city he tried burning down on J6", whereas one mentioned, "Lmao. Now, all of a sudden, he feels the FBI is necessary and wants to keep it. What happened to MAGAs cry to do away with the FBI? The FBI is corrupt?"

A person stated, "What a fake", while another wrote, "In his last administration he promised to move it out of DC. He can’t keep up with his own lies."
