WASHINGTON, DC: Sen Elizabeth Warren found herself in the hot seat during a recent podcast appearance when asked if she stood by her past claims that former President Joe Biden was mentally 'sharp' during his time in office.

The exchange unfolded on 'Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso', where the Massachusetts Democrat hesitated and danced around questions about Biden’s cognitive state before his dramatic 2024 campaign exit, reports Fox News.

When Fragoso asked if she regretted saying Biden “had a sharpness to him,” Warren responded with a pause. “I said what I believed to be true,” she said, before the host pushed further, “You think he was as sharp as you?”

Warren paused again, visibly uncomfortable. “I said I had not seen decline,” she answered, careful with her words. Fragoso wasn’t convinced and she added, "And I hadn’t at that point.”

Fragoso didn’t let up, pushing Senator Warren to clarify her thoughts on President Biden’s performance in office.

Warren hesitated for a moment before responding. “The thing is, He was sharp. He was on his feet. I saw him... live event. I had meetings with him a couple of times...”

Fragoso pushed back, not letting Warren off the hook. “Senator, ‘on his feet’ is not praise,” he said. “He can speak in sentences' is not praise.” Warren cracked a soft laugh. “Fair enough,” she admitted.

Just a year ago, Warren was one of Biden’s most vocal defenders, dismissing concerns about his age and lauding his focus and clarity. In a previous interview with Hasan Minhaj, she declared, “The man is sharp. The man knows what he’s talking about,” adding, “He does the job. I think people ask about age, they’ve got every right. Look, voters can ask about anything they want. They can make any decisions based on anything they want. That's the deal.”

She went on, saying, “It's a sharpness and a pointedness about what he is trying to accomplish and to me, I get it. It's like messaging. You can have other issues you want to look at, but the heart of it is what does he deliver. He is delivering.”

But her tone began to shift after Biden’s performance in a crucial debate against Donald Trump. Speaking on MSNBC shortly before Biden dropped out of the race, Warren noted that while he was still the nominee, he had “a big decision to make” about continuing his campaign.

That decision came swiftly - Biden withdrew from the race the next day.

Internet reacts to Elizabeth Warren response to question on Biden’s mental sharpness

Senator Elizabeth Warren found herself under the social media microscope after an awkward exchange during a recent interview, where she was pressed about earlier remarks questioning President Biden’s mental acuity.

Her hesitant and measured response didn’t go unnoticed and the internet let her have it.

One user wrote, “I'd never expect her to tell the truth,” while another added, “The careful pauses are indicative of lying.”

Critics online doubled down. “All she does is lie,” one user declared. “Such a joke!!!” another exclaimed.

“She is a horrible liar,” chimed in another.
