NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Tech billionaire Elon Musk roasted Liberal Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson after she traded the courtroom for the bright lights of Broadway.

Jackson made history as the first-ever Supreme Court member to perform on Broadway, stepping into the role of "Queen Mab" for a one-night cameo in the musical '& Juliet'.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson fulfills her lifelong dream

On December 14, Saturday night, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson graced the stage at New York’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre in a surprise performance. Clad in jeans, a blue corset, and a flowery hat, she belted out the Backstreet Boys’ 'Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely' and delivered lines like, “Female empowerment, sick!”

The '& Juliet' team hyped the cameo in an Instagram post. The post referenced Jackson’s memoir 'Lovely One', where she wrote about her childhood love for theater.

"I had said so in one of my supplemental application essays [to Harvard]. I expressed that I wished to attend Harvard as I believed it might help me ‘to fulfill my fantasy of becoming the first Black, female Supreme Court justice to appear on a Broadway stage,'” Jackson wrote.

Even Jackson herself couldn’t hide her excitement. In a behind-the-scenes video shared by the production team, she is seen rehearsing songs, trying on costumes, and running to the stage after her name was announced. Jackson exclaims at the end of the clip, “I did it! I made it to Broadway.”

Before the big night, Jackson dished about the role on NPR’s 'Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me'. “They have invited me to do a special walk-on role that I’m told they wrote for me. So I’m very excited,” she said.

She shared a little-known tidbit about her Harvard days, where she pursued theater and even starred in a production of 'Little Shop of Horrors'. Oh, and she once took a drama class where her scene partner was none other than Matt Damon.

For those who don't know, '& Juliet' is a modern spin on Shakespeare’s 'Romeo and Juliet'. It imagines an alternate universe where Juliet doesn’t meet her tragic end and instead embarks on a journey of independence. The show also features a nonbinary character, May, who is Juliet’s best friend.

Ketanji Brown Jackson trolled for her theater cameo

Having said that, Ketanjo Brown Jackson's decision to take the stage did not sit well with her critics.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk joked, “She should sing her verdicts.”

Conservative pundit Glenn Beck asked, "If Clarence Thomas appeared in a Broadway play about pro-life values, the Left would DEMAND that he recuse himself from any abortion-related cases. So, will they demand Ketanji Brown Jackson recuse herself from LGBTQ cases after her Broadway debut?"

Many others slammed the move. "So we got Supreme Court justices who are just wannabe influencers & actors?" one social media user posted on X.

"Soooo her lifelong goal was NOT to be a #SCOTUS but to be an actress that happens to be a SCOTUS?! Not even quite sure how to respond to this next-level crapola," another fumed.

"After her appearance on Broadway, I will now assume Ketanji Jackson is acting at all times," someone else offered.

"Perhaps Broadway was her calling. lol It's certainly not the law," another quipped.
