NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Grimes, Canadian singer-songwriter and ex-girlfriend of tech mogul Elon Musk, sparked an intriguing conversation on social media after revealing a shift in her sexuality during her pregnancy.

The 36-year-old artist took to X (formerly Twitter), a platform now owned by Musk, to share a personal reflection that stirred debate among her 1.3 million followers, as per Daily Mail

Grimes shares surprising insights on creativity and focus post-pregnancy

"I became way less gay after I was pregnant," Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, candidly posted, explaining that pregnancy seemed to alter her ability to focus on certain tasks.

"My ability to focus on reading and writing went way up, as did my general creativity, but my ability to focus on technical things went way down."

Her post prompted a flood of reactions and questions from fans, to which Grimes responded with a sense of curiosity, asking, "Is this all explained by hormones?"

Grimes and Musk, who share three children—X Æ A-12, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus—parted ways more than three years ago, but remain connected through their children whom they co-parent.

Grimes' openness about her sexuality and hormonal changes following pregnancy fueled even more conversation, with followers weighing in on her experience.

One follower suggested, "No I think that’s just from being in a heterosexual relationships with a bigot bae," but Grimes was quick to reply, "I feel like that [should] make me more gay tho."

As responses poured in, some urged Grimes to seek advice from professionals.

One follower pointed out, "Ask a doctor, X is not the best place, because you'll get 100 different theories," to which Grimes replied, expressing interest in the variety of ideas shared on the platform.

Amid the discussion, Grimes also referenced the potential neurological changes she had been reading about, such as "grey matter loss but improved neuroplasticity associated [with] pregnancy."

While some users suggested she check her testosterone and DHEA levels, Grimes revealed that her testosterone was significantly lower post-pregnancy and that she intended to follow up with her doctor about the matter.

Grimes' transparency extended beyond her hormonal and neurological shifts.

When asked for clarification on what she meant by feeling "less gay," she explained, "I’m just less interested in dating girls."

The statement added another layer of depth to her already complex public persona, as she continues to navigate life in the spotlight as a mother, musician, and public figure.

The conversation also touched on her and Musk's "semi-separation" back in 2021.

Musk had explained their split to Page Six, attributing it to the demands of their respective careers.

"It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas, and her work is primarily in LA," he said.

Despite their separation, Musk said at that time that Grimes would continue to live in a home he owns in California.

"She is staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room," he said.

Musk, now 53, has been in the headlines for his vocal support of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in recent weeks.
