WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk has left people baffled after a handwritten message on a notepad placed before him during Donald Trump’s Cabinet meeting has gone viral.

The Tesla CEO was part of the Trump administration’s meeting on Thursday, April 10, as reported by Express.

The image showed him sitting alongside the president’s senior officials. The notepad on the table in front of him had the message “Top secret” scribbled on it along with two esclamation marks. However, it’s not clear if he himself wrote it.

The picture also showed a name card, an empty glass, and a pen on the table.

Elon Musk's 'top secret' message on notepad sparks mockery

Elon Musk’s notepad became a point of discussion on social media. Netizens had a field day joking over the "top secret" message.

A user tweeted, “The most Top Secret stuff is written in ball point pen.”

The second user commented, “What a joke.”

An individual said, “He wrote it himself, didn't he.”

Someone else posted, “He's soo quirky 😜😜🤪🤪.”

Another shared, “Top secret? Better get it on the Signal group! #signalgatescandal,” referring to the Signal war chat leak that involved high-level officials like the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.

“Yeah but tell us Elon what is the next secret underneath the one on top?” a tweet read.

A user wrote, “Is this more or less secure than a signal group chat?”

A person sarcastically asked, “Did DOGE cut the government's rubber stamp budget?”

Another person added, “Of all dumb things that he has done, that's actually kinda funny.”

"Jesus Christ he really is just a 5 year old in a 50 year old body," someone claimed.

Another user noted, "Lol I probably write random phrases if I have a pen and paper in front of me too but this is hella funny."

It has been speculated that the "top secret" message may have been in reference to the announcement Musk made during the Cabinet meeting.

Elon Musk says DOGE will save $150B in 2026

Meanwhile, as per Fox News, Elon Musk said during the Thursday meeting that DOGE is expected to save over $150 billion in FY 2026.

“We anticipate savings in FY 26 from reduction of waste and fraud by $150 billion. And, I mean, and some of it is just absurd. Like people getting unemployment insurance who haven't been born yet,” he claimed.

The billionaire added, “People ask me how are you going to find waste and fraud in a government? I'm like, well, actually, just go in any direction. That's how you find it. It's very common. It's, as a military would say, a target-rich environment.”
