POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA: According to Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County, Florida, a man confessed to the murder of his 46-year-old mother Elvia Espinoza, a cherished elementary school teacher, on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
The man also expressed love for his mother even after surrendering to authorities for fatally stabbing her.
Emmanuel Espinozo, as reported by New York Post, is a pre-med student enrolled at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
What happened to Elvia Espinoza?
Emmanuel Espinoza, a 21-year-old student at the University of Florida, had planned to join a family gathering and requested to spend the weekend with his mother, Elvia, at her residence located approximately two hours south of Orlando.
However, upon her opening the door around 2 pm on Saturday, the situation took a horrifying turn as, armed with a knife, Emmanuel launched a brutal attack.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, in a recorded statement, described the setting, "She lived in the forest, in a very nice house, south of Frostproof."
"She ran from him, she was talking to a family member on the phone, and … he stabbed her until she fell down and died," recounted the sheriff.
Following his apprehension, Emmanuel confessed to the crime, expressing long-standing grievances toward his mother. "He said, ‘You know, I have wanted to kill my mother for many, many years because she got on my nerves,'" the sheriff revealed.
