WASHINGTON, DC: GOP Rep Don Bacon has revealed that House Republicans are "probably nearing the conclusion" of their impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, The Hill reported.

In an interview on NBC's 'Meet the Press' on Sunday, March 31, the lawmaker from Nebraska said, "When I talked to the lawyers on the committee staff, they say at this point there's not a specific crime that's been committed."

"And he'd need that for [a] high crime or misdemeanor. Now, I think it merited an investigation to put the facts out, let the public look at it, make a determination," Bacon continued.

Host Kristen Welker pressed Bacon on whether he believed it was time to drop the impeachment inquiry against Biden in light of the inability to find any specific crime.

"I don't know if it's time, right now. But I do think we're probably nearing the conclusion of this investigation," the GOP Congressman said.

However, he added that the GOP-controlled House's investigation led the American people to see the massive financial gains of the Biden family.

"I think it was important for the American people to see that yes, there's $24 million in foreign money that the family raised, and all the hidden LLC's that the money was moved around it, but that within itself is not a high crime or misdemeanor," Bacon said.

In recent weeks, the House Republicans, holding a razor-thin majority in the chamber, are facing doubts from within their own party whether the investigators managed to find any wrongdoing as they are struggling to conclude the impeachment inquiry against Biden.

The GOP lawmakers' formal impeachment probe stemmed from their intention to substantiate their claims about the president's involvement in his son Hunter Biden's business deals abroad.

The demand to end the impeachment inquiry increased after the FBI indicted a confidential source in February for giving false information regarding Biden and the first son receiving a bribe from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

Furthermore, in March, the White House Counsel's Office demanded House Speaker Mike Johnson drop the inquiry, citing a lack of evidence despite interviewing dozens of witnesses and collecting more than 100,000 pages of records.

Last week, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer invited Biden to give testimony before the committee on April 16. The White House slammed the request, calling it "a sad stunt at the end of a dead impeachment" and asked Comer to "call it a day."
