Eric Trump to sue Jen Psaki over China ties claims and ‘dishonest reporting’
WASHINGTON, DC: Eric Trump on Saturday, May 16, announced that he will initiate formal legal proceedings on Monday, May 18, against MSNBC host Jen Psaki over what he characterized as "reckless and dishonest reporting that damages people, reputation and lives."
The president's son claims the network leveled false allegations regarding his business ties to China.
Eric Trump threatens lawsuit against Jen Psaki, MSNBC
Eric Trump strongly criticized both Jen Psaki and MSNBC, saying that a review of basic financial records would have shown she was wrong.
He called the reporting completely false and stated, "Jen Psaki is a terrible reporter and MSNOW News should hold her accountable. A 30-second review of basic financial disclosures, literally her most fundamental duty as a journalist, would have shown I have zero leadership or decision-making in the company she claimed I was “on the board of” the basis for which she claimed I was in China."

Trump denied knowing anything about the business deal mentioned on air, making it clear he is not involved at all.
"As I previously stated, I have NO knowledge whatsoever of the transaction she referenced, the people involved or a single detail - as I’m not, in any way, involved," Trump said.
He added that the broadcast was a major failure by the network and promised to sue them, concluding, "This isn’t journalism, it’s reckless and dishonest reporting that damages people, reputation and lives. Formal notice is going out Monday with a lawsuit to follow..."
Jen Psaki questions Eric Trump’s China business links
This update about starting legal action came after Eric Trump first spoke out about the issue on May 15.
Earlier, he said he would sue MS NOW, formerly MSNBC, and host Jen Psaki.
This happened after Psaki used her show to question whether Eric's business ties created a conflict of interest while he traveled with his father on the high-stakes trip to China.
Psaki focused on the fact that Eric does not have a government job and is supposed to stay away from official government business since he runs the Trump family empire.

GOOD, NO MERCY, @EricTrump! 🔥

During her show 'The Briefing,' Psaki discussed a Financial Times report concerning ALT5 Sigma, a fintech company based in Las Vegas where Eric once served as a board observer.
She told viewers the company is looking into a “potential deal with a Chinese computer chip manufacturer to build AI data centers and a whole bunch of other AI-related stuff” tied to the Chinese government.
Pointing to the alleged link between the Trump family and the AI deal, Psaki said, “Guess where Trump’s adult son Eric is right now? Well, he’s with his father in China,” and added, “It certainly seems like Eric might be getting a little more than just quality time with his dad out of this China trip.”
Eric Trump denies China ties amid MSNBC controversy
Those comments prompted a quick response from Eric Trump on the social media platform X, where he denied the claims and said he was never on the company's board.
“I intend to sue @jrpsaki and @MSNOWNews over the below clip,” the president’s son wrote, adding, “To be clear: Contrary to her monolog and blatant lies, I have NEVER been on the board of ALT5, not now, not ever.”
He also denied being part of any corporate merger talks, stating, “I have had zero involvement in any merger discussions involving any public entity I do not run or control.”
Trump strongly denied having any financial links to China at all. “I have zero business interests in China. No properties, no investments, nothing!” Eric Trump said.
He explained that his presence on the trip was strictly personal rather than business-related, stating, “I joined this trip for one reason: as a loving son who adores my father and wouldn’t miss being by his side for this incredible moment.”
He noted that he and Lara Trump simply visited the Great Wall while the official government meetings were taking place.
