PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Erika Kirk, CEO of TPUSA, shared a heartwarming moment at Turning Point AmericaFest 2025 when she embraced Jeanie Beeman, the Target employee who was harassed over wearing a Charlie Kirk "FREEDOM" T-shirt in Chico, California.
Erika praised Jeanie's courage and said, "Thank you for being a part of my Charlie’s legacy. I love your courage. God bless you."
While several others attended the event, it was this personal, touching moment that stole the show and reminded everyone of the human side of the event.
Erika Kikr hugs Jeanie Beeman in a heartwarming TPUSA moment
Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, hugged Jeanie after she became the face of a viral moment that resonated across the country. The embrace followed a widely shared video that circulated on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter). The clip showed Jeanie, a 72-year-old Target employee, being confronted by a customer. The customer questioned her for wearing a red Charlie Kirk “FREEDOM” shirt while she was at work.
In the video, the customer questioned whether it was appropriate for Jeanie to wear the shirt at work and tried to provoke an argument. Jeanie stayed calm throughout the exchange. She refused to engage, saying, “I’m sorry, but I’m not going to stand here and argue with you,” and ended the interaction by wishing the customer a good day.
The woman filming the encounter, who goes by the name Michelea Ponce on TikTok, used profanity and accused Jeannie of supporting a “racist.” After the video gained traction and sparked backlash, Ponce later issued an apology, according to local outlet Action News Now.
Erika’s hug acknowledged Jeanie’s calm response during a widely shared incident. The moment reflected broader debates around free speech, workplace expression, and online scrutiny.

Turning Point AmericaFest 2025 brought together a massive crowd of conservative activists in Phoenix. The event carried deep significance, as it was the first major Turning Point USA gathering since founder Charlie was shot and killed in September.
Roughly 30,000 attendees filled the Phoenix Conference Center this week, a 50 per cent increase from last year. Political leaders, commentators, and grassroots supporters gathered to reflect on Charlie’s legacy, hear speeches, and discuss the future of the conservative movement.
