WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump's former attorney, Joe Tacopina, criticized Sen Tim Scott over his "ridiculous" claims accusing President Joe Biden of "weaponizing the justice system" against the 45th president, reported HuffPost.

Scott, who is a potential contender for Trump's running mate position, directed his frustration at Biden after the former president was convicted in the hush money trial on May 30.

Hours after the guilty verdict, the Republican Senator, in a video message posted on X, said, "I can't believe the hoax, the sham, this absolute injustice, justice system."

"Joe Biden's injustice. Joe Biden's two tier injustice system. Weaponizing the justice system of the United States of America against a political opponent? Un-American. Joe Biden, you're fired," he added.

After weeks of trial, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up the hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to silence her about their alleged sexual encounter.

Tacopina, who was part of Trump's hush money trial legal team before leaving in January, voiced his disapproval of the South Carolina lawmaker's accusations against Biden.

In an interview on MSNBC with host Rev Al Sharpton, the attorney said he "used to respect" the Senator. However, it changed after hearing the "unintelligent" allegations against the president.

"I sorta lost a lot of respect from what I just heard because he sounded so uneducated, unintelligent and made no sense at all," Tacopina stated, adding neither Biden nor any Justice Department member had "absolutely zero to do" with Manhattan District Attorney's Office, that brought the criminal case against Trump.

Further, he said Scott's claim of Biden bringing the hush money case against Trump was "one of the most ridiculous things" he had heard.

"We know that's not the case and even Trump's lawyers know that's not the case."

Scott's recent meltdown mirrored several other Trump allies who blasted the Manhattan jury's guilty verdict.

The hush money trial verdict is scheduled to be declared on July 11, less than a week before Trump's formal GOP nomination for the 2024 presidential race.

Internet divided as Joe Tacopino slams Tim Scott

A group of social media users sided with Tacopino's criticism of Scott, while another group mocked the former Trump attorney over his change of stance.

One user wrote, "Members of Trump’s cult are so gullible and downright dumb, they believe everything they’re told. Their attention spans are so short and their braincells so few, that as soon as they hear more Trump lies, they forget what they are told today."

Meanwhile, another remarked, "Tacopina trying to wash off that Trump Stank."

"IF they had any credibility, they’ve lost it now. Spineless idiots," a third user added.

Whereas a fourth response read, "Really? Things just keep getting weirder and weirder. Taco pants going against the Cheeto and MAGA."

Someone else said, "Anybody with a lick of sense knows Biden didn't bring the case against Trump; a grand jury voted to indict, then Alvin Bragg brought the charges, and the jury deliberated and convicted. End of story."

On the other hand, one asked, "Why when they become Trump's former - they suddenly become truthful?"

"He grovels so much that I am beginning to feel sorry for him. It’s embarrassing to watch," an individual added.

Another user wrote, "Guessing Tacopina’s check from Trump org funded by campaign donors who buy sneakers, NFTs and Bibles must’ve bounced."
