Biden draws flak for new ad ripping Trump on gun control 2 years after Uvalde school shooting
WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's re-election campaign launched a new digital ad targetting former POTUS Donald Trump two years after the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, reported CBS News.
The ad, launched on Thursday, May 24, commemorating the second anniversary of the tragic mass shooting, paid tribute to the 19 students and two teachers who perished in the tragedy.
"We honor those we lost in Uvalde," the text on the ad said. With 'Ave Maria' playing in the background, it showed an altar commemorating the victims, followed by images of President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visiting the school and consoling the people.
Biden campaign ad blasts Trump's take on gun control
"Joe Biden expanded background checks, and is fighting to ban assault weapons," the advertisement read.
The 30-second ad transitioned to the 45th President with the text, "Donald Trump did nothing to keep us safe." It ended with an image of Biden standing before the Uvalde memorial, and the text read, "I'll never forget, I'll never stop fighting."
The President posted it on various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), with the caption, "I'll never forget Uvalde. And I'll never stop fighting to keep our communities safe."

The ad, aimed at Latino voters, will be played in crucial battleground states of Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. As part of the campaign's seven-figure media ad buy for May, a portion will include Spanish subtitles.
The newest ad aims to attract Hispanic voters in battleground states, whose votes could play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the November election.
For example, one out of every four voters in Arizona will be Hispanic this year, and the campaign is striving for a more significant victory than the narrow win against the Republican opponent in 2020.
According to the latest polls by CBS, the incumbent is trailing the former president by five points.
On the other hand, Trump ramped up his opposition to Biden's gun control measures during a recent speech to the National Rifle Association. He vowed to defend the Second Amendment rights if elected and to reverse the new gun laws imposed by his successor.
Biden's campaign also released a new TV ad narrated by Robert De Niro on the same day of the Uvalde ad launch. The anti-Trump ad titled 'Snapped' included mentions of the former president's infamous remarks like the "dictator" and "bloodbath."
