WASHINGTON, DC: A viral post has sparked widespread attention online by claiming that a federal judge approved a $350 million class-action lawsuit filed by more than 500 January 6 defendants against Nancy Pelosi, alleging she orchestrated the Capitol events as a setup.

The claim rapidly spread across social media, accumulating over 11k likes and triggering a wave of reactions ranging from skepticism to demands for verification. Let's fact-check the claim.

Claim: A federal judge approved a $350 million lawsuit against Nancy Pelosi

According to a post on X shared by @Signal1776X, a post stated that “a federal judge has officially approved a class-action lawsuit against Nancy Pelosi,” and added that “over 500 J6 patriots are now united, seeking $350 million in damages for what they claim was a coordinated setup.”

It further alleged that the lawsuit accuses Pelosi of orchestrating the entire incident by “luring peaceful protesters into the Capitol" and "then labeling them ‘violent insurrectionists’ to push a narrative.”

The post concluded by suggesting that if she were found liable, it could “bankrupt her,” framing the situation as “exposure” rather than conspiracy, and urged users to “stay tuned” for further updates.

The post has gained significant traction online, recording over 90k views and more than 11k likes, along with numerous comments.

Fact Check: Claim about Nancy Pelosi lawsuit is false

The claim that a federal judge approved a $350 million class-action lawsuit filed by more than 500 Jan 6 defendants against Nancy Pelosi was false. No federal court had certified or approved such a case, and no credible court records or filings supported its existence.

Fact-checking reports indicated that the story originated from a satirical Facebook post and was later circulated online as if it were real. While there had been lawsuits connected to the January 6 events and various political figures, none resembled the alleged $350 million class-action suit.

Courts generally handled related cases as individual civil matters or dismissed them for lack of legal standing, rather than recognizing any mass action against Pelosi.

The viral post used persuasive and sensational language such as “officially approved,” “500 patriots,” and “bankrupt her,” commonly seen in misleading or fabricated content. It also blended real political tensions surrounding the Capitol attack with false legal claims to make the narrative appear more credible.

In reality, there was no verified lawsuit, no judicial approval, and no legal record supporting the claim. It was a fabricated story that originated as satire and was later misrepresented as fact online.
