WASHINGTON, DC: In late November 2025, social media users circulated an open letter said to be written by actor Alyssa Milano and addressed to Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

The letter sharply criticized Greene’s long-standing support for President Donald Trump and questioned her recent break with the political movement.

The post alleging this attribution quickly went viral, with some questioning its validity and others believing it to be true. The discussion so far has focused entirely on whether the letter is correctly attributed, not on whether the claims within it are valid.

Claim: Alyssa Milano wrote a blistering letter to MTG

Multiple social media posts claimed that Alyssa Milano penned an open letter on November 17, beginning with: “Congresswoman Greene, let's skip the pleasantries. They were never your thing anyway.”

The posts alleged that Milano accused Marjorie Taylor Greene of enabling Donald Trump’s political rise and then seeking sympathy once she fell out of favor with him. According to the viral claim, Milano wrote lines such as: “So, you've suddenly discovered that Donald Trump, the man you treated like a messiah, is not loyal,” and “you helped create this monster. You fed it. You protected it. You celebrated it.”

The letter purportedly referenced Greene’s recent break with Trump following a heated split over the release of Jeffrey Epstein related documents, as well as disagreements on foreign affairs and health care. Greene had announced she would resign from Congress effective January 5 of next year.

Milano also allegedly accused Greene of calling for the release of the Epstein files out of “fear” rather than courage. The posts further highlighted Milano’s supposed concluding argument that Greene could seek redemption only through “public, unequivocal accountability.”

Fact Check: The letter is real and published by Alyssa Milano

The letter was accurately and fairly attributed. Alyssa Milano posted links to it on her verified Facebook and Instagram pages, and the full text appeared on her verified Substack on November 17, matching the version circulating on social media.

Milano has frequently criticized Donald Trump and prominent Republican figures, and her public history aligns with the tone and content of the letter. She previously drew national attention in 2019 for likening the MAGA hat to a Ku Klux Klan hood in a since-removed post on X.

In the letter, Milano reiterated her long-standing concerns about Marjorie Taylor Greene’s rhetoric and actions, citing everything from Greene’s past promotion of conspiracy theories to her behavior during former President Joe Biden’s 'State of the Union' address.

She also referenced Greene’s reactions to threats against political figures and argued that Greene had shown selective moral outrage. “Real accountability means going fully public with everything you know, every lie, every scheme, every threat, every abuse of power you witnessed, tolerated or assisted.”

Greene’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment.
