Fact Check: Did Barron Trump react to Iran's $10M bounty, saying 'I'm not involved in this war'?
WASHINGTON, DC: A week after Iran announced a bounty of $10M on President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump’s head, a social media post claimed that Barron has responded to the threat, stating that he is not involved in the war. The claim has triggered speculation, prompting a verification.
Claim: Barron Trump has responded to Iran's $10M bounty
The rumor surfaced as a post on X, claiming to show an exchange between Barron and an Iranian operative.
"Listen closely, Barron Trump. We are coming for you, and you're going to meet your maker very soon. No bunker can protect you from our bounty," the operative allegedly said in an encrypted message.
In response, Barron purportedly said, “What did I even do to you, people? I'm just a college sophomore, I'm completely uninvolved in this war, and I have zero to do with Iran—so why am I the one getting hunted down?"
Netizens reacting to the claim appeared to believe the rumor to be true, while others questioned the authenticity of the rumor, requiring a fact check into the claim.
Fact Check: Barron Trump made no such remarks
Although Iran did announce a bounty of $10M on Barron Trump’s head, there are no records of the 20-year-old responding to the threat.
The alleged exchange between Barron and an Iranian operative is also fake and fabricated.
There are no official statements, social media posts, or press releases from Barron that prove that claim, which, if true, would have been widely covered by prominent news media outlets, which, if true, would have made headlines.
Moreover, the claim was posted by an X handle that describes itself as a parody account in its bio.
Iranian media threatens Barron Trump
The claim surfaced amid the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, following which Tehran has turned towards Trump’s family as IRGC media and State TV channel 3 broadcast a chilling video fantasizing about killing Barron.
The video titled “Where to kill Barron Trump” claimed to show the movements of Trump’s youngest son.
According to the video, Barron is “fully monitored” and showed depictions of the dorms at New York University’s Constance Milstein & Family Global Academic Center.
It even claims to have uncovered Xbox, FIFA, and Discord accounts of Barron and some of his classmates, naming two of them. The video concluded by stating, “This is just the beginning! Barron Trump, wait for us.”
