Fact Check: Did Charlie Kirk have a Catholic funeral and burial?

WASHINGTON, DC: Charlie Kirk’s name is once again dominating headlines, with a new claim now circulating—this time from Candace Owens. The former Turning Point USA (TPUSA) staffer claimed on her show that Kirk had a Catholic funeral and burial.
Owens shared this information while discussing how little has been publicly revealed about Kirk’s funeral and burial. So what exactly is this claim, and how much truth does it hold? Let’s take a closer look.

Candace Owens has been outspoken about her thoughts and doubts surrounding the circumstances of Charlie Kirk’s death. Her latest comments focus on his funeral.
On Wednesday, October 29, an episode of her podcast featured Owens reflecting on how quickly talk about Kirk’s funeral faded from public view. A short video clip of her remarks has since gone viral, in which she says, “He loved the architecture, but there was no more substance for him. I really struggled with that, and I struggle with it even more. Now that I know that Charlie Kirk has a lot of questions about?"

She continued, “How come we haven’t seen anything about his burial? We saw so much, and then we saw nothing. The reason that’s such a big hush-hush secret is because Charlie had a Catholic funeral mass, and he is buried in a Catholic cemetery.”
Owens further claimed that the details of the funeral were intentionally kept hidden to avoid upsetting TPUSA donors and Evangelical Christian supporters.
A social media post from conservative commentator Morgan Ariel also amplified Owens’ claim, suggesting Kirk’s burial was kept unusually private.
Fact Check: No evidence supports Candace Owens’ claim about Charlie Kirk’s Catholic funeral

Charlie Kirk’s death during an event in Utah has stirred intense political debate, speculation, and conspiracy theories. But when it comes to the specifics of his funeral, there’s no confirmed evidence or credible source indicating that Kirk had a Catholic service.
He had a public memorial on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, attended by thousands, including US President Donald Trump. According to AZ Central, another service for Kirk was held at Hansen Mortuary in Phoenix. The mortuary generally does not offer Catholic burial services, which casts doubt on Owens’ claim.
Kirk was raised in a liberal Presbyterian household but later embraced Evangelical Christianity. He often spoke about his faith and how he accepted Jesus Christ in fifth grade while attending Christian Heritage Academy.

So far, no credible news outlets—including BBC News, Fox News, The New York Post, CBS, or Daily Mail—have reported that Kirk had a Catholic funeral or was buried in a Catholic cemetery. Neither Erika Kirk nor TPUSA has confirmed Owens’ claims.
