WASHINGTON, DC: A viral video circulating online claims to show Charlie Kirk secretly naming his wife, Erika Kirk, as his successor at Turning Point USA before his September 2025 assassination.

The footage, which features a montage of Erika Kirk at various TPUSA events, resurfaced as the organization arranged its Women's Leadership Summit amid renewed debate over the group's future leadership.

The claim has also gained attention in light of previous public disputes, including challenges from Candace Owens regarding Erika Kirk's role within the organization.

Claim: Charlie Kirk named his wife Erika Kirk as his successor at TPUSA in a hidden footage

A viral video shared by the X account RT.com claims to show previously hidden footage of Charlie Kirk naming his wife, Erika Kirk, as his successor at Turning Point USA.

The 15-second clip features a montage of Erika speaking at TPUSA events, walking onto stages before large crowds, addressing audiences from podiums, and interacting with supporters. The video also includes scenes of audience members holding "I Love America" signs and TPUSA materials, along with a personal clip of Charlie and Erika together.

Throughout the montage, audio snippets of both Charlie and Erika Kirk play over the footage. Erika can be heard discussing her Christian faith and commitment to her husband's mission, while Charlie appears to say, "I appoint my wife to run Turning Point USA if something happens to me. Erika would do a great job." The statement is presented as evidence that Charlie privately designated Erika as his successor.

The post portrays the footage as a newly released "secret" video recorded before Charlie Kirk's assassination in September 2025. As the clip spread across social media, it sparked debate about TPUSA's leadership and whether Charlie had formally named Erika to lead the organization in the future.

Fact Check: Charlie Kirk's remarks about Erika Kirk are unproven

The quote was reportedly taken from remarks Charlie Kirk made during a private TPUSA donor retreat in Aspen, Colorado, in August 2025, just weeks before his assassination on September 10, 2025.

According to reports, Charlie made the statement while responding to a donor's question about the organization's succession plans. Accounts from attendees and media reports quote him as saying, "We have a great board and God forbid if something happens, they will figure it out. I appoint my wife..." with wording similar to that heard in the viral video.

Reports further claim that Charlie had communicated this preference to TPUSA executives and board members before his death. Following his assassination, the organization's leadership unanimously appointed Erika Kirk as CEO and chair within days.

Since then, edited clips featuring the alleged quote have appeared at TPUSA events, including the Women's Leadership Summit held in June 2026.

However, the complete video from the Aspen retreat has never been released publicly. TPUSA has said the footage remains private because the event was held for donors. As a result, only edited excerpts and montages containing the audio have circulated online.

The quote aligned with reports from media outlets that claim to have viewed the footage and spoken with people who attended the event. It also matche TPUSA's public account of Charlie Kirk's wishes regarding the organization's future leadership.

However, because the full, unedited recording remains unavailable to the public, independent verification is not possible. While many TPUSA supporters accept the quote as authentic, critics argue that the lack of public access to the original footage leaves room for questions about the context and editing of the clips that have been released. Therefore the claim is unproven.
