Fact Check: Did Donald Trump claim on social media that he 'talked to Jesus'?
WASHINGTON, DC: A screenshot has been circulating on social media platforms claiming to show a post by President Donald Trump saying that he talked to Jesus. The post has sparked mixed reactions from online users and triggered renewed debates about the president showing symptoms of dementia. Let us analyze the viral screenshot and fact-check it.
Claim: Donald Trump said he talked to Jesus
The rumor spread in the form of a screenshot claiming to show a post by the president on his official Truth Social handle.
The alleged post states, “You know, I've known Jesus for a long time. He often says, ‘Donald Trump, we are really close friends, and my father is happy that you're making America Great Again. It's my favorite country."
"When he saved my ear from the bullet, he whispered in my ear, the one that was saved, and said, ‘The whole world owes you a debt of gratitude for being so Christian and having perfect morals.’”
The screenshot spread on Facebook and Threads, renewing debates about the president showing symptoms of dementia.
Fact Check: Fake screenshot, Trump made no such post
The screenshot, however, is fake, as Trump made no such post. A search of his official Truth Social account and the commentary accounts that archive his posts did not yield any posts matching the text in the screenshot.
Also, the font's proportions did not match those of the real Truth Social website, and it did not include a date.
An additional Google search for the remark also yielded no results showing the president making any such statement outside social media, which, if true, would have been widely reported by prominent news outlets.
JB Pritzker reignites Donald Trump dementia claims
The debate about Trump showing signs of dementia resurfaced recently after Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said President Trump is “suffering from dementia” and incapable of understanding his own words during an appearance on CNN’s ‘The Source’ with host Kaitlan Collins on June 30.
The sparring was sparked by comments Trump made in the Oval Office, where he said that communism is a bigger threat to the United States in 2026 than all World Wars, the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the September 11 terrorist attacks combined.
"Look, the man is continually suffering from dementia," Pritzker said. "I don't think he really understands what he's saying."
“He says they’re the greatest threat to the country since its founding,” Collins told Pritzker. “And he said that includes World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor, and 9/11.”
